i haven't read much on these boards about Camille, but i think she's fuckin' BRILLIANT....does anyone else think this?? Most of you probably recognize her from the Nouvelle Vague album which she sang a few songs on...but her solo albums really show her true talent. Her last album, Le Fil, which came out earlier this year, was easily one of my favorite albums of this year...similar to Bjork's Medulla album, most of the album is produced vocally, with lots of beat-boxing, layered vocals, intricate harmonies...to me she's a bit of a mix of bjork, fiona apple, esthero & edith piaf..but she definitely has her own quirky, distinct sound. I wish she were more popular in the US so she could tour here.

anywway, here's my fave track from her album, take a listen....

Is that your chat-up line for Camille?

I'm not sure about this track but her cuteness is off-the-scale on "Too Drunk To Fuck"

heh, 'Le Fil' has been in my 'Amazon recommends' list for ages, but I never made the connection with the Nouvelle Vague album until now. I shall check this record out. Thanks for the heads up.

Ta Douleur is one of the best songs I heard last year. Au Port knocks a few of the Nouvelle Vague ones stunned

I know, right?, Sunday, 4 March 2007 23:17 (eighteen years ago)

one year passes...

Okay I'm only three tracks into the new album and already :) :) :)

haven't heard the new album, but does anyone else prefer "Le Sac des Filles" to "Le Fil"?

danzig, Thursday, 10 April 2008 22:30 (seventeen years ago)

YES

Jeff LeVine, Thursday, 10 April 2008 22:32 (seventeen years ago)

Haven't the faintest about her, but for what it's worth, the Henrik Schwarz remix of Ta Doleur is excellent.

That single is not very good.

baaderonixx, Friday, 11 April 2008 07:34 (seventeen years ago)

I like it, bit kind of surprised it's a single as it works better as an extended album intro type thing.

I haven't heard any of her previous stuff but if it's as good as The Monk then I'll be tracking it down as quickly as possible.

New album is pretty good, but I still prefer Le Fil right now. Need to listen more.
