You really should. It's really worth it.

miccio (miccio), Wednesday, 2 November 2005 18:33 (twenty years ago)

An understatement based on your words elsewhere, sir.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 2 November 2005 18:38 (twenty years ago)

*turns around with cigar, looks at ILX, and smiles*

iDonut B4 x86 (donut), Wednesday, 2 November 2005 18:38 (twenty years ago)

Like you weren't doing THAT before.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 2 November 2005 18:39 (twenty years ago)

yeah, the commentary track actually has R. Kelly sitting in a chair in the right hand corner of the screen, watching the movie, smoking a cigar and looking over his shoulder to talk to us. But the later chapters are so amazing that the commentary track is merely a bonus. There's also a behind-the-scenes deal I haven't watched yet.

miccio (miccio), Wednesday, 2 November 2005 18:41 (twenty years ago)

I got mine, but I'm not watching it until the weekend.

Whiney G. Weingarten (whineyg), Wednesday, 2 November 2005 20:51 (twenty years ago)

this changes the way commentaries should be recorded.

i'll admit, I didn't think 6-12 would be as entertaining as they are. brilliant.

pher (pher), Thursday, 3 November 2005 02:26 (twenty years ago)

wha-what, it's been released !!??
wow, gotta grab it right now...

AleXTC (AleXTC), Thursday, 3 November 2005 12:02 (twenty years ago)

WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT?????????

Baaderonixx says DANCE!! TAKE A CHANCE!!! are you ready for... TRUE ROMANCE (baa, Thursday, 3 November 2005 12:12 (twenty years ago)

ok, done : ordered it ! (baaderonixx, got it on amazon US).

AleXTC (AleXTC), Thursday, 3 November 2005 12:20 (twenty years ago)

yeah but my dvd player doesnt play region 1 stuff. maybe it's gonna come out in europe soon?

Baaderonixx says DANCE!! TAKE A CHANCE!!! are you ready for... TRUE ROMANCE (baa, Thursday, 3 November 2005 13:07 (twenty years ago)

Behind the scenes stuff is pretty entertaining too, but repetitive. Oh my god is there some brilliant material in 6-12 though. And some great things musically.

Hillary Brown (Hillary Brown), Thursday, 3 November 2005 13:16 (twenty years ago)

stop talking about it cos I can't wait to watch this !(or maybe I should stop reading the thread...).
baaderonixx : L... (I wonder if it's ever gonna be released in europe...).

AleXTC (AleXTC), Thursday, 3 November 2005 13:46 (twenty years ago)

VH1 also showed chapters 6 through 8 last night.

Hillary Brown (Hillary Brown), Thursday, 3 November 2005 13:54 (twenty years ago)

I preordered it on Amazon last week and it still isn't here. Thankfully a friend bought it so I've seen it already. 6 and 7 are absolute brilliance, maybe the best of the whole 12. Things start to get iffy in 8 and never really recover. Not to say they're bad, but I just have my doubts. I have faith in Robert to bring it all back together, though.

digestion (digestion), Thursday, 3 November 2005 16:48 (twenty years ago)

You gotta remember, it's like a global closet we're all in.

Hillary Brown (Hillary Brown), Thursday, 3 November 2005 16:53 (twenty years ago)

yeah, what's the message robert is trying to tell us with that suit ?

AleXTC (AleXTC), Thursday, 3 November 2005 16:58 (twenty years ago)

My guess is that it has something to do with cliffhangers. Everything does.

Hillary Brown (Hillary Brown), Thursday, 3 November 2005 17:00 (twenty years ago)

That's what makes Trapped In The Closet Trapped In The Closet!

miccio (miccio), Thursday, 3 November 2005 17:05 (twenty years ago)

anybody who finds 9-11 "iffy" is crazier than R. Kelly.

miccio (miccio), Thursday, 3 November 2005 17:06 (twenty years ago)

And the rhymes, Miccio. Don't forget the rhymes. The R didn't even mean to do that with making the song rhyme all the way through. It just happened.

Hillary Brown (Hillary Brown), Thursday, 3 November 2005 17:07 (twenty years ago)

"anybody who finds 9-11 "iffy" is crazier than R. Kelly."

You didn't think a lot of it was really gimmicky? I mean, it had its points of genius - the introduction of the omniscient narrator, Twon threatening to shoot everyone despite having "turned his life around," the acapella fight in 12 - but playing the midget card? Can you really defend that?

digestion (digestion), Thursday, 3 November 2005 22:41 (twenty years ago)

I'm going to keep pretending his name is "Tron."

Joseph McCombs (Joseph McCombs), Friday, 4 November 2005 02:11 (twenty years ago)

Can you really defend that?

with my roffles, yes.

miccio (miccio), Friday, 4 November 2005 06:26 (twenty years ago)

Plus his midget is a way more nuanced character than any of Lynch's or Fellini's.

miccio (miccio), Friday, 4 November 2005 06:27 (twenty years ago)

by the way - I'd say **SPOILERS** next time you're gonna reveal a bunch of plot details

miccio (miccio), Friday, 4 November 2005 06:28 (twenty years ago)

You didn't think a lot of it was really gimmicky?

The correct answer to this is: Who the fuck cares?

Hillary Brown (Hillary Brown), Friday, 4 November 2005 15:23 (twenty years ago)

"Twon"?

Dan (As In Antwon?) Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 4 November 2005 15:25 (twenty years ago)

"I looked at the camera there because I was like, is this girl trippin'?"

Eppy (Eppy), Friday, 4 November 2005 16:33 (twenty years ago)

I'm going to assume it's short for "Antwon."

Twon (miccio), Friday, 4 November 2005 17:13 (twenty years ago)

Actually, on an MTV news article it's 'Twan.

'Twan (miccio), Friday, 4 November 2005 17:14 (twenty years ago)

Is the 'R' in 'R. Kelly' short for 'Retarded'?

Dan (Antoine! Why Is That Hard?) Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 4 November 2005 18:10 (twenty years ago)

I've met more Antwans than Antoines I've gotta say, so it's not that surprisingly really...

I Wouldn't Even Be Surprised If It Was "Roburt" (candicissima), Friday, 4 November 2005 18:22 (twenty years ago)

I'm not suprised, more disappointed. It's like meeting a Jasmine/Jazmyn/Chasmene/Jezmeen/etc.

Dan (D-A-N-N-E) Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 4 November 2005 18:28 (twenty years ago)

Yes, but another character is named Big Man

'Twan (miccio), Friday, 4 November 2005 18:30 (twenty years ago)

chasmene!

i just got this today, it is fucking AMAZING

nervous (cochere), Sunday, 6 November 2005 00:31 (twenty years ago)

try it in black and white.

jergins (jergins), Sunday, 6 November 2005 03:52 (twenty years ago)

some spoilers. among the key words (the last one in each song) are: neighbour, midget and i am pregnant with him. the story is getting even more crazier, but beware..thats not all: read with me the blurb: "...first 12 chapters of his dramatic masterpiece....". does that mean that it is going to continue?

karl76 (karl76), Sunday, 6 November 2005 12:29 (twenty years ago)

I've finaly watched this yesterday... I think the description WTF !? should have been invented for this !
It's one of the rare things where I can't really say if I enjoy it because it's brilliant of because it's ridiculous... Maybe it's both !
On second thoughts, one thing that makes it more brilliant than ridiculous would be that after episode 2 I thought "ok, same music, same melody again, silly story... Who will bother watching one more episode of this ?"
and here I am, 10 episodes after and still watching and excited !
+ the commentary part and behind the scenes are also great.
