Billboard and Drowned In Sound have been redesigned this last week:

I don't think I have ever seen DiS even mentioned on ILM before. Is there a reason for this?

http://www.billboard.com/bbcom/index.jsp

From the few seconds I spent on here navigating, it's impressive. I usually avoid this site because it was so slow but now I can see visiting it more often.

drowned in sound looks quite nice but appears to have 'borrowed' heavily from pitchfork in terms of visual style.

billboard looks a bit disjointed and dense despite the relatively minimal look.

Too much flash on Billboard - which leaves big white spaces on my work PC.

That 65daysofstatic piece on DiS is horrendous. The design style does feel too PFM too.

btw when is Stylus going to sort out the line-height of it's text and change the colour so it is more different from the background colour? ;)

The writing on Drowned In Sound is for the post part absolutely horrible. One of the worst well read music sites i think. The re-design makes it look like Pfork.

Googley Asearch (Toaster), Thursday, 3 November 2005 11:27 (nineteen years ago)

Influenced it might be, but it's MUCH better organised than PFM. Which is neither visually appealing, or ordered on the page with any degree of logic (other than the positioning of the advertising placements). It's just a fucking carcrash.

Only Playlouder on the web is quite so bad (though I'll admit that site is fairly snazzy & original visually, just a little unreadable in the process).

I don't like the DiS content much unfortunately. Just not quite my taste... But I will consider it worth checking now, the live listings search seems useful. So I have to say, a successful makeover!

How strange I already thought Prefixmag was fairly new. Was going there a lot but haven't for some time now.

I just spent a few minutes at bb.com trying to figure out what the redesign was when I saw the date stamp on the post. Hate when that happens.

easy to be hardnosed and cynical, but this does feel like the end of an era for me.
I watched how Sean moved the site from being a homegrown bedroom op to a fully blown, money making company.
I watched in awe while I was stuck at home being a full time dad.
yeah, I was envious of how he made the leap, but he put the work in and made it work.
I wont deny, the music they covered was never my thing (nor were the boards), but I always checked in to see what was going on.

oh i guess i'd better rescue the one piece i have up at drowned in sound, then again i don't care

HA!

it really sucks how often it happens that I'll say, in conversation, "literally just today, a music closed down/had layoffs," and then the next day it continues to be true
