So, who wins?

You cannot be serious. Well, for a start, Cope has eleven solo albums, whereas Mac's only got what....two? (not counting Electrafixion) Cope's best (SANT JULIAN and PEGGY SUICIDE) are untouchably sublime...the former showcasing Cope's mastery of pop, the latter a sprawling concept album that's actually credible, whereas Mac's first outting was dour and depressing and his second was misguided and scattered. Cope wins. Hands down.

That said, the Bunnymen blew the Teardrop Explodes completely out of the water.

Seconded. And Cope is a much nicer man than Mac, and writes f'in hilarious books where he talks about Teardrops concepts stolen by Bill Drummond for the Bunnymen, ie. camouflage clothes.

Cope all the way here. You could boil down the two Mac solos to a reasonable enough comp, adding in some B-sides. Whereas Saint Julian has oodles of grand albums, etc.

McCullochs solo career isn't even as good as DeFreitas's.

I don't think I've ever heard Fugazi, all that integrity just gets to me somehow.

Ho ho ho. New thread on that subject just posted.

Cope. Even if he'd only made "saint julian", putting him against iam mcculloch would be like putting a tiger up against a mouse.
