It's a US mid to late eighties black US electro track.
Has a (group of) male vocal(s) singing something like:
"Hangin On The Beat
Living For The Beat..."
Has a break with wild rock guitar sounds, where I think they go "hhhmmm.... yeah etc" between sounds.

Would much appreciate if anyone can ID.

Have been trying to find this track for almost 20 years!

Do you have anything else to describe the song?

If it's a group of male vocalists singing, could it be something by Planet Patrol? I have their debut LP at home, I could try to check if any track sounds like the one you described.

Okay, I listened through the Planet Patrol LP, the only song in it that has wild rock guitar breaks is their cover of Gary Glitter's "I Didn't Know I Loved You (Till I Saw You Rock & Roll)". It sounds kinda like the song you describe, but it doesn't have any lyrics that go "hanging on the beat" or "living for the beat". I could still YSI it, though, if you want to hear it.

Bobby Broom - Living For The Beat LP, song: "Beat Freak"
described as 'electro anthem', based on google search
good candidate?

Thanks! I'll track down the Bobby Broom track in case that's it.
