i heard this song for about a second on hot 97 last night. a second before they started making noise over it and talking about how good the song was. but it's like JUST PLAY THE FRIGGIN SONG DAMMIT! they never played more than 30 seconds of it

anyway, it was a new reggae song. sort of in a modern roots style. i dont k now too much about reggae, i mean it wasnt dancehall. it was in an old style but it sounded like it was recorded recently. the dude was singing about how youre lucky to have a woman or something like that. minor key

anyone know what's it's called or who sings it?

Probably "Welcome to Jamrock" by Damian Marley.

Oh wait, I missed this part. Does Damian Marley have another single out?

Maybe Sizzla "Just one of those days", which one of the few other roots tunes that get regular rotation on Hot 97. Starts like this "Dry cry, even tears, even my heart cries, but who cares..." and they rarely play more than 30 secs of it because it's hype.

Could also be I-Wayne's "Can't Satisfy Her".

Okay I just checked the Hot 97 "charts". Is it the Richie Spice tracks "Youths is So Cold"? Or something by Fantan Mojah (I don't know any lovers tracks by him, but maybe "Thanks & Praises" on the Seasons riddim)?

my friend said richie spice too but i have not verified this at all. i doubt it cuz this song was very somber and i cant imagine one of the spice girls having sung it.

and yes, mari, that is totally frickin weirdorama

i dont think it's sizzla cuz everything ive heard sizzla sing was really flat. am i imagining that? im like howTF do people listen to this guy? kind of interesting in its own way but really flat ptich-wise

hot97's "playlist," they say, is one week behind what they are actually doing. and i started this thread just under a week ago so we may have an answer shortly.

thank you all for your continued attention!
