It's Indira Radić, a Serbian turbo-folk singer. They've already made it a tradition of ripping off songs from foreign hits, but I'd say this one stands out for the familiarity of the "sample" as well as the sheer hilariousness of the song choice.

The reason I'm putting it up here (aside from the fact that it's so awful) is because I think ILM is one of the rare places on Earth where anyone could possibly have something positive to say about this... if anyone even downloads it, that is.

for those of us currently sans downloading/listening capabilities, care to offer a brief precis of the sopng and its contents?

Oh. My. Fucking. God.

Well, I thought I shouldn't spoil it, but OK. It's just some terrible singing over a kind-of Turkish retouching of Rammstein's Du Hast.

I'm an avid watcher of the charts in the former Yugoslav republics, and I'm always disappointed when their charts are full of Serbian folk of any kind, as it's always the stuff I like the least (Give me Vesna Pisarovic any day). But never did I think I would hear a song that samples fucking "Du Hast" by Rammstein (who are obviously great) with a yowling bint over it.

Wahaidaminnit. You that sure it wasn't Rannstein doing some 'cultural sampling' here?

(I've not heared either song mentioned, to be fair)

you're a douchebag, Saturday, 5 November 2005 20:58 (twenty years ago)

And you're an anonymous, un-logged in person. Who cares what you think?

edward o (edwardo), Saturday, 5 November 2005 21:00 (twenty years ago)

And you buy Girls Aloud albums

seriously, if that's what you're into, no wonder you don't like decent folk music

ooh snap, Saturday, 5 November 2005 21:03 (twenty years ago)

Note: I said: "it's the stuff I like the least". I didn't say that it was without merit, just that it ain't my thing. If that's your thing, it's your thing, nobody says you can't enjoy it.

edward o (edwardo), Saturday, 5 November 2005 21:04 (twenty years ago)

yeah i know. i just thought it would be nice to stick up for east european folk music on ilm. ha ha. i really don't want to see thair charts clogged up with our disposable trash or pale copies thereof

And Rammstein are useless dogshit obviously

gettin' ready to be mercilessly destroyed, Saturday, 5 November 2005 21:08 (twenty years ago)

A good way of doing that would be to start a thread on it and suggest some of the good stuff. Or just do it here, it's on topic, really.

edward o (edwardo), Saturday, 5 November 2005 21:11 (twenty years ago)

people! people! calmness. I can see how the sheer overwhelming awesomeness of hearing a serbian folk singer violate the copyright of german fake-facists could make someone crazy. i'm excited too. but try and stay calm.

i didn't have edward o pegged as a Rammstein fan.

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Tuesday, 8 November 2005 12:42 (twenty years ago)

He likes gay-Europop and My Chemical Romance! Rammstein are totally the C section in that Venn diagram.
