Camille Saint-Saens

All I'm familiar with is Danse Macabre, which I find to be incredible despite my usual ambivalence towards "classical" music. My quick search on the ah, INNER-NETS netted a surprisingly small amount of information about this and his other works. Any recommendations?

i'm partial to his 2nd, 4th, and 5th piano concertos - they're all fun listens.

and yeah, the organ symphony is pretty great. wasn't it used in Babe?

aww, "carnival of the animals" is the first record i can ever remember listening to. malcolm arnold composed some more animals as a sort of addendum/tribute which is kinda fun as well.
does anyone have a definitive way of pronouncing his name? i've heard all sorts of different ways - i say it like this : sahn-song (the g being sort of half pronounced)

if you only speak english you can just say saint (as in "saint etienne") sense (as in "common sense"). if you want to work hard pronouncing it the right way it'd be more like "sane" without the "e" and "sans" as in s+ "answer" without the "-wer". dunno if i'm really clear.

Bits of Carnival of the Animals (the Fossils?) are almost identical to Danse Macabre.

Saint-Saens rhymes with Man Ponce, more or less. At least, you can get away with that pronunciation if you're not a french speaker.
