mrs fiendish and i are fiting about this RIGHT NOW. she saw GnR in 1991 and says slash's crotch riffs will live with her for ever.

i saw motörhead in 199something and they fucking RULED. i reckon that, in teh live arena, their pile-driving ROCK POWER beats GnR's strutting hands-down.

and you?

I've seen GnR (use yr illusion tour) on a "good night"...and motorhead...

My guess:

8 out of 10 shows the road warriors in Motorhead deliver the goods like they do every night.

2 out of 10 the mercurial 91 Axl and gang deliver an amazing, mind-blowing show..

I saw G'n'R twice -- once at the New Ritz (shooting the video for "You Could Be Mine") and the other at Giants Stadium with Metallica.

I've also seen Motorhead twice. Once with Kreator opening in `91 or so (also at the New Ritz) and again at Madison Sq. Garden, opening for Iron Maiden (and...er..Dio, but I like to pretend they weren't involved).

G'n'R were all about big rock poses and running around. Motorhead, by and large, just get right down to business, plug in and blow a hole in the roof of the place (i.e. Motorhead don't need to run around). Granted, I've never been fortunate to catch them with their fabled bomber lighting rig.

My only quibble with Gn'R shows....Axl kept chaning his outfit...it was ridiculous. There were more constume changes (at BOTH shows, not just the video shoot) than a fuckin' Cher concert.

But, you know, Motorhead will ALWAYS win over G'n'R. Better music. Cooler people. Etc.

woah...that's a metal show...serious business right there. I bet that was great.

I loved how Axl kept changing clothes! He had a split Ol' Glory/Confederate flag leather jacket (split down the middle haha) for Civil War....it's a "topical leather jacket"!

Motorhead was really great when I saw them, though...but GnR seems more epic to me...

Last time I saw Motörhead they played only 3 of their well-known tunes, the rest was all songs from albums generally considered their worst. They sounded fantastic. Not in a million years could you imagine GnR doing anything like that. Buy hey, some people like fashion shows I hear.

The real contest is Motörhead live vs. AC/DC live.
