In an old issue of CREEM, Richard Riegel once made a remark about "Clarence Clemons' 'I-Got-To-Pee-REAL-Bad' saxophone solos". PWNED! (First time I've ever used that 'word'. And the last time, too. Hope I used it correctly!...)

Myonga Von Bontee (Myonga Von Bontee), Wednesday, 9 November 2005 09:09 (twenty years ago)

There's an old Steve Hillage album which, if memory serves me, has a lot of running water on it - the sound of streams I suppose it's supposed to be...that always makes me want to urinate but I think it would also help the urinating experience.

Why do you want to know? Thinking of pumping music into a toilet? I remember going to a trendy London eatierie once and in the toilets was really loud (much louder than in the restaurant) hi-energy disco. I can't say it made pissing any easier but the couple in the next cubicle seemed to be enjoying it.

Ned T.Rifle, Wednesday, 9 November 2005 09:19 (twenty years ago)

Sorry missed the first line of your post - "in your bathroom" - of course!

Surely you need showering od bathing music then, as they will take up more of your time. I would think.

That Steve Hillage album is called Rainbow Dome Musick incidentally.

Ned, Wednesday, 9 November 2005 09:22 (twenty years ago)

That should be "showering OR bathing" - od-ing in the bathroom is a whole other thread.

Men's Recovery Project - “Man Urinating, Laughter”

bobby.lasers, Wednesday, 9 November 2005 13:01 (twenty years ago)

Zappa: Don't Eat the Yellow Snow

footlog, Wednesday, 9 November 2005 14:08 (twenty years ago)

i think we should respect the thread starters wishes and be considering the arc and rhythm of the song rather than lyrical content or amusing titles.
weighing up these factors, i choose

'spaced out' by play paul

from the waves compilation.
it is french filter disco and it is perfect for a long pent up piss after a long nights sleep. there is an urgency and also a holding backness (via filter) at the start that matches the urinators state of mind. it takes a while to get going, maybe like waiting for morning wood to go away. then the piss in the song finally gushes out when the filter is released and is playful and joyous and kind of assymetrical just like a jagged piss thats coming out a bit too hard. then it sort of sputters at the end and does something else.

minna (minna), Wednesday, 9 November 2005 14:23 (twenty years ago)

mine was in full respect to the thread starters...

musically Men's Recovery Project nail it on the head...

1. The sound of one man urinating.
2. A large crowd laughing at him.

Who hasn't had this come true?!

So, if I'm urinating, I want to listen to this song, because for once it won't be ME that's getting laughed at, it'll be the guy on the recording.

Whoever said Rainbow Dome Musick was otm, basically anything vaguely ambient would work a treat, and if you can sneak some birds (larks, cockatoos, piping plovers etc) into the bathroom at the same time so much the better.

Yeah, if it's a bodily function, you can be pretty sure Zappa has a song about it.

I seem to remember in college that the under-aged drinking bar at Syracuse would play a lot of grunge, stuff like Weezer and '80s punk. Those were happy times, and if I recall correctly, "Been Caught Stealing" is a fun-ass pissing song.
