Is Stryper fun nostalgia, or just pure nonsense?

Y'all,
Stryper is in Austin tonight. I'm gonna get heavily sedated and go relive some memories (granted, some embarrasing memories).

Anyway, am I nuts for thinking this is going to be fun? I haven't listened to Stryper since '88, but geesh! I was such a huge fan of this cheesy band at the time....so much has changed.

any thoughts?

Maybe a dumb question, but has your religious view changed much over the moons?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 9 November 2005 19:20 (twenty years ago)

Sadly, I was a non-religious Stryper fan at one point....somehow that crappy ass music did it for me all on its own.

Ummmmm, yeah - I've changed my worldview QUITE a bit since my jr.high/Stryper days. I haven't exactly thrown out the idea of God's existence entirely, but, yeah. I've changed.

I liked Stryper for a brief while back in the day. I'm all for a good nostalgia show (I've seen Cinderella twice -- they rocked hard, btw) but I think you can skip this one.

i'd say do it...
stryper for non-religious stryper fans is definitely a winner...

i still have "to hell with the devil" on picture disc 12"...but what i most highly recommend is their in-studio hijinks on their christmas ep....unbeatable.

Y'all,
well...I went to the big Stryper show last night. I had an incredibly good time, BELIEVE it or not. Har har. The Austinist was even nice enough to print the drunken review of the show I wrote after stumbling home...

Check it out!

Peace,

"keep the home fires burning " and "lonely " are brilliant.
wanted to buy stryper " sheet music.

I just hope they were careful throwing Bibles into the audience. They could've knocked someone out and ended up being sued.

They were crap then and they're invariably crap now, if not even crappier.

I have no idea what this band sounded like, but Yellow And Black Attack had one of the truly offensive LP covers of the cold war/Reagan era. I see they've changed it at some point in the past 20 years, if anyone cares.

Wait, what was originally on it?

Fuck those guys.

Personally, I always thought "Soldiers Under Command" was the most offensive. Check it out, they are standing in front of an A-Teamish van -decked out in yellow and black - brandishing machine guns, grenade launchers and even yellow/black striped missiles! Nothing spreads God's love better than a missile, I tells ya!
