Praga Khan- Injected With A Poison

I haven't thought about this song for 13 years, and even then I only remember it because it caused a "MUST WE SLING THIS POP FILTH AT OUR KIDS?" outrage because it had the word "injected" in the title. Anyway, 13 years later, I actually listened to it. Good, no?

I loved this song 13 years ago. Doubt I've listened to it since about 11 years ago though, I had it on a dubbed tape with lots of other rave/house stuff.

THIS SONG IS OUTSTANDING

so-so, in an enjoyable way.

The Good Dr. Bill (The Good Dr. Bill), Wednesday, 9 November 2005 22:21 (twenty years ago)

It's a great track and I play it nearly every time I dj - there are some great remixes of it out there somewhere.

dog latin (dog latin), Thursday, 10 November 2005 13:49 (twenty years ago)

I remember the outrage at the time (1991?) with Anne Robinson standing up for it and actually quoting (in the most deadpan manner) "feel your body, feel the energy oooh oooh I'm in ecstasy". It's begging to be sampled.

dog latin (dog latin), Thursday, 10 November 2005 13:50 (twenty years ago)

I remember their TopOfThePops appearance, where they couldn't use the sample and had to say the lines themselves. It was rubbish, because of that.

Weren't there a remix in, ooh, about 1997? I used to hear it quite a lot down at Trade, and hence nurse fond memories. On the other hand, I'm not sure that this is a track which I've ever heard, um, straight.

Oh yeah, the Baby Doc remix, that was the one.

How long did the Top of the Pops ban on samples last anyway? Didn't Moby fall foul of this circa... "Go"?

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Thursday, 10 November 2005 14:45 (twenty years ago)

Yes, he did... the result being a ridiculous performance in which he kept having to shout "Go!" into his mike every 30 seconds or so.

See side topic, list for ugliest electro performers of all time, right in between Erlen Oye and Crystal Method

it would be nice to say this record was a lost classic.

gareth, you are wrong. this was ace!

anyone remember "juicy red apple" by skin up?

dog latin (dog latin), Sunday, 13 November 2005 03:06 (twenty years ago)

I like injected with a poison, I've got a CD single of it somewhere. I interviewed Praga Khan once when the Lords of Acid were on tour. He was completely friendly and funny and mild-mannered. I was a little disappointed.

gypsy mothra (gypsy mothra), Sunday, 13 November 2005 03:17 (twenty years ago)

breakbeat hardcre track i.d.

oooohh, Sunday, 13 November 2005 03:23 (twenty years ago)

THERE'S A RAINBOW INSIDE YOUR MIIIIIND

if my computer hadn't crashed, i was going to use this as the opening track on the ILMiXor maximalist cd. i'm sort of glad that happened because "intro introspection" is, for obvious reasons, a better opener, but this song is still really goddamned intense.

I really miss the "Take the Sample to the Lab" mix of Crablouse.. this was right when Blade was hitting big and that opening rave scene gave me the willies, on crystal meth that is.

two years pass...

Have been listening to this a LOT recently. Also, from the same period his alter ego Digital Orgasm's "Running Out Of Time". It almost seems to be a perfect record.
