Identify these tracks (mid-90s dance)

Way back in the summer of 95 when I was doing a lot of clubbing I bought some dodgy tapes of DJ sets, obviously without tracklists. There's a few tunes which I always liked, but never found out what they were. Finally, thanks to modern technology and the internet, maybe somebody can tell me.

This one was in a Tall Paul set from June 1995:

(FYI it was sandwiched between Antic - Ultimate, and DJ Misjah & DJ Tim - Access)

I have others, which I'll upload later...

(BTW - that's just a snippet from the track, so it's not a huge file)

That one's clearly by Hardfloor, or someone's remix (or complete rip-off) of them. It's being played insanely fast, probably pitched over +6 or something ridiculous - ah, the roaring mid-nineties.

Don't know which track it is, I lost interest precisely at their 1994 "Mahogany Roots" single release, which came out a year before that mix, so maybe that's the one but I don't think it's anything earlier by them.

No, I don't think so. I've got the Hardfloor album with Mahogany Roots on it (from 1994) and it's not on that. But you're right, is does sound a bit like that.

OK, here's two more. Both of them come from a Carl Cox DJ set at around the same time (about June 1995). This first one I heard in clubs a couple of times, but I've got no idea who it is, got a distinctive "it's our....future" bit, probably German by the sound of it:

and here's another one from the same Carl Cox set. I've heard bits of this track in other tracks (probably the original ones that this track sampled) - the 'watch me now, feel the groove' bit is in some old tune in that Chemical Brothers mix album from 98, and the keyboard bit after it is in some old hip hop tune.

Any help much appreciated.

first one in the carl cox set is awex - it's our future - http://www.discogs.com/release/197941. It's not the original version, probably the carl cox one.

Second from this set is grooveyard - watch me now - http://www.discogs.com/release/198206. I think it's the original mix.

Thanks. You're a hero. Any ideas about the one I posted at the top of the thread? I'm starting to wonder if Blunt was right and it's some kind of Hardfloor remix.

Teh HoBB (the pirate king), Saturday, 12 November 2005 11:59 (twenty years ago)

Dude. It's about time to start wondering. I will have you know, I ain't no village idiot :)

blunt (blunt), Saturday, 12 November 2005 12:51 (twenty years ago)

i dont think that first one is hardfloor

I have no idea about the one at the top. But I've heard most of the output from hardfloor and can't recall that one. If it is hardfloor, it's probably someone's remix of them.

post it at tuneid.com or some discogs forum, maybe they can help.

done some more research, it is the original, not the carl cox mix

It is? I don't remember it as that fast. But it's ten years ago/clip very short/maybe pitched up so I guess you're right.

ac, Saturday, 12 November 2005 16:10 (twenty years ago)

I've stuck the first one on the tuneid site - a bit intimidated by the number of genres, toyed with sticking it under 'hard house' then opted for 'trance / techno'.

Teh HoBB (the pirate king), Saturday, 12 November 2005 16:13 (twenty years ago)

yay! someone on tuneid has identified it as:

The Human League - Filling Dub With Heaven (Hardloor Remix)

i have the 12" for It's Our Future...it was a huge choon back in 94/95. i remember Billy Nasty absolutely wrecking shit at Club UK in Wandsworth with the intro to that track.

biz, Sunday, 13 November 2005 18:41 (twenty years ago)

Well I remember selling truckloads of this crap over the counter thinking, "this pays for the good stuff nobody's buying".

blunt (blunt), Sunday, 13 November 2005 18:55 (twenty years ago)

I went there a few times in 95 (Club UK, not Blunt's counter)

Teh HoBB (the pirate king), Sunday, 13 November 2005 19:05 (twenty years ago)

You do look familiar though.

blunt (blunt), Sunday, 13 November 2005 19:20 (twenty years ago)

you may remember me. i was the guy who came in saying "I heard this song Judge Jules played last night, it was kind of housey with a melody that went 'ner nee nah ner ner, ner nee nah ner ner; and it had a crazy siren, do you know the song i'm talking about?"

biz, Sunday, 13 November 2005 19:58 (twenty years ago)
