"i come in new and exciting styles, like the super cute and compact Nano, or perhaps you like watching videos on your way to work (you do take public transporation don't you?), i'm available in iPod Video, now in shiny Black! See You In Heaven!"

mePod, Saturday, 12 November 2005 03:42 (twenty years ago)

i like mine....

Christopher Costello (CGC), Saturday, 12 November 2005 03:58 (twenty years ago)

mine just died a few days ago! it was alomst 2 years to the day from when it was activated. all the information is still there, but now the display just won't come up. sometimes when i do the "restart" thing it comes back but its all scrambled and then when i try to do anything it all just dissapears. i think the last song it played in its confused scrambledness was an air song off of moon safari.

jonathan - stl (jonathan - stl), Saturday, 12 November 2005 06:45 (twenty years ago)

i pried mine apart last night and put a new battery in it and now it's like having a new toy again

"We pose no threat to your race. Our mission was conceived in goodwill. Do not resist us. Searching Augustus Pablo... Haha, you don't have any! Loser. Buy more music. Buy more music. Buy more munfg¢∞§63457tlsdfdzzzz—"

Say Jonathan it's possible to get the screen repaired, check out www.ipodmods.com for the US and Apple of course but they probably charge an arm and a leg. There's also a brit site but can't be bothered to go look for it. What has the world done to me?

Susan Douglas (Susan Douglas), Monday, 14 November 2005 09:03 (twenty years ago)

mine continues to live strongly

gem (trisk), Monday, 14 November 2005 10:13 (twenty years ago)

Mine is now 22 months old and is fine & dandy, still being used four five days a week, still playing almost all day in my office.

Sick Mouthy (Nick Southall), Monday, 14 November 2005 10:17 (twenty years ago)

i wonder if the dead ones caught some kind of nasty bird flu

gem (trisk), Monday, 14 November 2005 10:18 (twenty years ago)

(whaddaya mean you've never thought of doing this?)

zappi (joni), Monday, 14 November 2005 10:23 (twenty years ago)

(i'm talking about a line of snuff, of course)

zappi (joni), Monday, 14 November 2005 10:27 (twenty years ago)

Two dead iPods over the course of a year. I've never bought an extended warranty before this.

Confounded (Confounded), Monday, 14 November 2005 14:46 (twenty years ago)

my Ipod shuffle, only a few months old, died silently whilst nestled in the pocket of my gym shorts, suffocated by the surging warm water of my apartment building's washing machine. RIP good buddy. Snif.

dick stanley (dick s), Monday, 14 November 2005 15:12 (twenty years ago)

I don't think I'm gonna buy a new one when this one goes...

Whiney G. Weingarten (whineyg), Monday, 14 November 2005 15:21 (twenty years ago)

Jdubz (ex machina), Monday, 14 November 2005 15:29 (twenty years ago)

mine 10GB model is two years old next month and has had no problems - battery still goes a long while!

xpost we are all gay!

Banana Nutrament (ghostface), Monday, 14 November 2005 15:30 (twenty years ago)

mine got all screwy last week, i thought it was on its way out. i kept getting the apple screen. so i reset it a few times to no avail. finally i broke down and formatted the thing from the cd the ipod came with. now it's like brand new, go figure.

in essence, try "restoring" it. that's what apple calls it when you erase it and redo the OS on it or whatever the hell that is that runs it

planet E, Monday, 14 November 2005 17:15 (twenty years ago)

never post again THANK YOU

Jdubz (ex machina), Monday, 14 November 2005 17:36 (twenty years ago)

I usually restore mine after a few months and dump fresh stuff on it when it starts rebooting and doing disk-diagnoses randomly, it really helps. "Feels ... snappier"

After a while the battery indicator means absolutely nothing, so I don't pay attention to it and just leave it in the charger whenever it's not being used.

Refurb 3G 40GB, scratched to hell but still one of my prized possessions (knock on wood) ... next one will be a Nano when they get the bugs worked out of that one.

Brakhage (brakhage), Monday, 14 November 2005 17:41 (twenty years ago)

I, too, will never post again OKAY

Brakhage (brakhage), Monday, 14 November 2005 17:43 (twenty years ago)

s1ocki to thread! he told me his ipod committed suicide recently.

my first one conked out a few weeks ago, actually. dropped it while stumbling out of a cab. :(

but my new video ipod is sleek and fun!

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 14 November 2005 17:44 (twenty years ago)

Have you tried watching something on that? How is it?

Brakhage (brakhage), Monday, 14 November 2005 18:02 (twenty years ago)

Not yet! But I downloaded an episode of Lost the other day, so I will try it out soon...

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 14 November 2005 18:11 (twenty years ago)

theoritical prius (dr g), Monday, 14 November 2005 21:22 (twenty years ago)

damn, i can't get that video to play! maybe i should smash my computer. i like the story about the unsuspecting nestling ipod.

Susan Douglas (Susan Douglas), Monday, 14 November 2005 23:18 (twenty years ago)

mine gave up the ghost today, after a few weeks of acting up. any recommendations on where i might get a replacement on the cheap? should i spring for the new video one?

one time gaffled 'em up (one time gaffled 'em up), Tuesday, 15 November 2005 03:17 (twenty years ago)

yeah, mine jumped off a shelf a couple of weeks ago. but then tax refund = video ipod! which is cool but i'm very protective of it! i still have the clear sticker on the front, until the new cases come out!

i haven't paid for any tv but i put one of my movies on it. now i just gotta set it up so i can convert some divxs to mpeg4s and hook the little guy up to my tv! good times
