more importantly, i'm actually starting to come around on juicebox...the "yr so coooooooooooold" part is enough to make the song worthwile for me now.

I sorta see that, esp the bass riff, but someone else somewhere brought up the Stranglers, which I think is more accurate....

oh? how many other bands have used him? list them now, and make it a GOOD list, BBC.
for the record- based on the 5 songs i've heard off this, it's worse (somehow) than they're last album...bland vs. more bland.

no, he's not. i never cared about the strokes until i heard these new songs (juicebox, especially) -- this is the first strokes album i've ever thought about buying. s'cool, i'm a 'no one' on this board, anyway.

ahhh, yeah, hehe..that one...he wasn't funny in that one either. delivery's all wrong. his bitter/ironic sense of humor failed him, yet again.
so, what, 2, possibly 3? that IS a cliche, now isn't it?
and whodathunk that new strokes songs would inspire ANY new fans...

The Strokes are incredibly jaded and cool throughout it all! They just don't give a shit. It's the same attitude that the VU and Television had in a lot of songs that dealt with controversial subject matter and did so with indifference musically, or in this case, the video itself. That is one of the things that got them the comparisons to those groups in the first place. It's trying to be cool in that cheesy 1970's way, it's just all indie'D up and modern for 2005.

Are you a huge Nirvana fan? Do you have a shirt that says "Kurt" on it rather than "Nirvana"? Or were you 12 when Is This It? came out? Or 42? Be 'someone'!
no, no, not so much these days, no, no, no. ok! anyway -- what i like about 'juicebox': the spy-theme, birthday party-tone bass riff. how the song is made up of parts that don't seem to fit together at first, but actually work together nicely. i also like the singing a lot more than on other strokes songs i've heard. (besides "last night", which is great) someone on one of the other strokes threads mentioned it reminded them of 'hash pipe' and i thought the same thing - except i think that 'juicebox' has much cooler guitar parts.
