Here's the deal: I can't stop listening to Harvest. I've been listening to it for a week straight and about 3 times a day.

Does anyone else know any albums as good and as listenable?

John Prine's self-titled first album is a nice match for Harvest that lives in a similar place, musically. For my money, it's actually better than Harvest.

in terms of production (and sometimes subject matter), the early 70s James Taylor albums are similar. but they're kind of like a bad version of Harvest.

and also--Sister Lovers is like Harvest? How do you mean?

The first My Morning Jacket album has a similar vibe -- has to be tons of indie rock stuff that does, it would seem.

Gram Parsons GP/Greivous Angel

His two albums on 1 cd. GP is good, Greivous Angel is an alltime great.

This thread shows how many different ways people hear Harvest

Anodyne comes the closest to matching the combination of grit, epic reach, and country wistfulness.

Harvest gets unfairly brutal treatment among the typical Neil Young album rankings, as if it's some sort of flaccid piece of commercial dreck. It's really just as weird and wonderful as anything else of his.
