First song that made me cry was Art Of Noise's "How To Kill"... I was 13 years old or so. I had to go through having my first pet dog be put to sleep... and anyone who's heard this song knows this is absolutely the *worst* song to play after such a tragedy.

As for recent life saving records, that would have to be Super Furry Animals' "Rings Around The World". This was the last new CD I got before I got laid off amongst a whole shitload of other things changing in my life. Blaring this record while going on a personal road trip, or just cleaning up around the house kept me sane through the dark, rainy days.

'24 Hour Party People' Soundtrack.

When I was younger, about 5 or so, my mother was really into new age music and thought it would be a good idea to play it while I fell asleep. Instead, it made me think of dead pets crying on people's front steps. There was one song in particular by Enya (sorry, I can't recall the title) that continued to haunt me in grade 6, when my teacher felt the need to put it in the stereo during our math work period.

sebadoh's 'bakesale' ... there's nothing like that disc when you're a moody teenager. and the songs are so basic you can learn them all on guitar in no time.

I think I was 15 by then, but "My Sister" by the Tindersticks haunted my every waking moment. Enough that I even believed it was true ...
