Could this ever happen?

Oh you trickster!

Wake me when Wilder comes back. He had the best hair.

He might not have the hair now.

If the putative thread title option ever did happen, Dan would destroy this puny planet in retaliation.

He might not have the hair now.

True. Sad, that.

He looks disapointed.

Vince Clark was the Syd Barrett of DM .... if only! After he left, they (albeit gradually) turned into just another rock band, imo.

Sorry - what I mean is "if only they'd get back together".

Yes, this was his true reason for leaving the band. Thus, we were spared the sight of Depeche Mode promo shots with the band in baseball caps.

You act as though Martin shouldn't be wearing a baseball cap in their recent promo shots.

It's like Ned is reading my mind!

"Wake me when Wilder comes back. He had the best hair."

DM's post-Alan output has been a pleasant surprise for the most part, but they were a much better band with him in it.

four years pass...

Kinda

Misreading the thread title as "Vince Cable back with Depeche Mode" has made me happy.

I love Depeche Mode and I love Vince Clark, but I still don't feel like they'd fit together musically anymore.
Plus Vince Clarke is generally over the hill musically ("Nightbird" was a surprisingly good Erasure album, but even 2005 is some time ago now) whereas Depeche Mode are still making constantly great music.

But, well, I know this is a side project for both rather than an attempt to merge Vince with Depeche Mode, so I guess it might be interesting to hear.
