Substitute record cleaning fluid

I have a Discwasher record cleaner and I use the D4 fluid that Discwasher sells. Does anyone know if there is a safe and cheap substitute? Can isopropyl alcohol be safely used on vinyl? Any other cleaning solutions? Thanks.

deionized water or distilled water.

I use something like 5 parts distilled water to 1 part isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol.

Anyone have a miracle cure for warped records?

I've been pressing a warped Lords of the New Church record for 21 years under bunch of other records and it still isn't flat enough to play. I suppose that's for the best at this point. But now I'm just trying to get it flat enough to sell for 50 cents.

I have a story of a warped record restore miracle, which I will hopefully recount to you later this afternoon.

That would be much appreciated. I found this copy of the M/A/R/R/S "Pump up the Volume" 12" on 4AD, but it's kind of warped around the edges, and it causes my needle to bounce out of the groove.

I use 3 parts distilled water 1 part the purest isopropyl I can find (usually 90 or 95%). This and a lint-free cloth has cleaned vinyl as well or better than anything else I've tried (certainly better than ye olde Discwasher brush -- never understand how that was supposed to do anything. You need a little pressure which is impossible when the record is spinning on the table).

Freshman year in college, a few records got warped by being left too long on the turntable on the windowseat with the hot sun beaming down on them. My roommate tried the stack-a-pile-of-records-on-it-to-squish-it-back-into-shape approach to fix his copy of Terrapin Station, but to no avail. I thought about it for a while and I eventually managed to save my copy of Labour of Lust by returning it to the scene of the crime- at that point in the day when the sun was hottest, sometime in the early afternoon, I put the record back on the turntable and just let it spin around for about twenty minutes. Then I took it off of there and let it cool off and when I tried to play it a little while later- lo and behold!- it was repaired.

there's a recipe for cleaning fluid here, where you can also learn how to DIY your own record cleaning machine.
