"Welcome to Wang Chung . com

During the past 3 decades, the London-based "new wave" band Wang Chung has ingrained their innovative music and ideas into the global popular culture. In turn, Wang Chung has helped sow the seeds of some of today's most popular and vital musical forms, including techno, industrial and the new New Wave. This web site is dedicated to promoting the music of this truly unique, "global pop" group!"

OK, so which techno, industrial and new wave bands have cited Wang Chung as an influence? I want to know.

Q: What was the first real rock band you ever played in?

Trent Reznor: Option Thirty. That was actually about one-third originals, two-thirds covers, from Elvis Costello to Wang Chung. For what it's worth, Wang Chung put a record out before the "Dance Hall Days" record, when they spelled their name differently, H-U-A-N-G Chung. All guitar-base-drums. Still a real good record.

I like the punch-in silence right before the last chorus.

There has to be someone out there that has sampled that piano lick from Wang Chung's "To Live and Die in LA". They did a good job with the soundtrack and it is a good listen.

Frasier Crane: "I was listening to a rock and roll station on the way over here, and I think the lyrics to one of those tribal chants applies to this evening: 'Everybody. Have fun tonight. Everybody. Wang Chung tonight.'"

my friend michael in 198whatever, dead(pan)serious:

"You know it has to reaffirm your faith in democracy when a song with lyrics as profound as "everybody wang chung tonight" becomes a big hit. What a great country we live in!"

By inviting listeners to "Wang Chung tonight," these market-savvy musicians were able to increase equity in the Wang Chung brand by linking their music to positive experiences and emotions, e.g. fun.
