So like, what happened to that new Who and/or Pixies album that was supposed to materialize this year?

Townshend's a bit fussy is all. He squirrels himself away and doesn't think anything he writes is proper "Who material" -- suiting Daltrey's voice, pleasing fans, etc. He's also suggested that the delay is partly caused by Starkey touring with Oasis (which is bunk). So instead he's blogging a novella and making plenty of appearances with his girlfriend/protege Rachel Fuller.

He did recently debut a new track, I forget what it's called and haven't heard it, but apparently he sings like Tom Waits on it.

[Sidenote: This might have been covered elsewhere, but the people responsible for No Direction Home (whover is meant by that) are doing a Who documentary due Fall 2006. The trailer for it's on the new Tommy/Quad live DVD.]

Rhino is about to issue something from the Who, I got something in my inbox about it last night. Can't remember if it is a live thing or another singles set, but it's not new material from what I recall.

last I heard, the Pixies have neither a label nor have even started recording or done much songwriting! so yeah, don't hold your breath.

The Stooges were supposed to record a new one with Rick Rubin also. Last I heard it got pushed to 2006.

Something other than the Tommy/Quad DVD? I can't find anything about it on the Rhino site. It's probably been about 6 weeks since the Who were last re-packaged, so they're about due...
