Last summer, before they broke up, we proclaimed the Stairs' swan song, ON SLEEP LAB, the local indie-pop album of the year. It's mid November, and we stand by that assessment. But it may soon have competition. Principal songwriter Ryan Walsh has regrouped under the name HALLELUJAH THE HILLS, and he's got a mess of new music in store. He's writing the score for the American Repertory Theatre's production ISLAND OF SLAVES and also recording HtH's debut album, THE TEENAGE WILDLIFE FIELD RECORDINGS VOLUME ONE. Four new Hallelujah demos are up at www.myspace.com/hallelujahthehills, and the group debut Sunday at Great Scott.

FYI, BU's female/male student ratio is like 3:1. When I was 18, that piece of information might have peaked my interest. Some of the campus classrooms are practically Dickensian in their decrepitude, however.

Edward, I went to BU today. I heard the campus was huge, and it is. But the girls are also very attractive.
