post ideas for future ILM polls

I would never have the energy to conduct a poll myself, but I keep thinking of ideas for them.

I feel that a B-Sides poll could potentially be amazing.

Also a poll of only album tracks by decade might be interesting, although there would most likely be large debating over what defines an album track.

I had a few others that I forgot, but they'll come to me in due time.

Most disgustingly pro-Tory sellout rock star.

I was actually thinking of arranging an electronic music poll, but since the jazz poll is still unfinished, it'll have to wait 'til 2006. Do you think it'd be a good idea?

i hope someone does the 60s soon. a hip-hop one would be great, too. all the genres deserve their own: country, soul, reggae/dub...

"Wolf" poll

Fuck genre polls. We'd just end up arguing over which songs belong to which genre. The rules need to have as much objectivity as possible.

Best mammal

The way I considered running the electronic music poll (and electronic music is "a genre" only in the widest possible sense of the word) is that every one can nominate anything they feel appropriate, no qualifications. And if enough people feel something is electronic music, and they vote for it and it makes into the list, then it should be considered electronic music. Simple as that.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Sunday, 20 November 2005 10:16 (twenty years ago)

I think this approach could and should be applied wrt ALL genres.

Well, except for punk, obv. ;~)

POX: different threads with slightly different titles but asking exactly the same question because someone was just to fuckin' idle and selfish to use the search function.

At this particular time of day, polls will always dominate the new answers page, as several poll threads are revived as the exact same time 24 hours before results, and then when results arrive.

Also because you start about 10 polls every day.

yeah the thing is i don't want to hide polls; they're occasionally interesting and worthwhile reads that prompt good discussion. it'd just be nice if posters (a few in particular) would, uh, you know, exercise a modicum of restraint here.
