Make Me Listen To Something Else

It was my birthday a couple of weeks ago, and my friends bought me lots of records, and I bought myself some also, and I just can't listen to them. I've listened to nothing of my own accord but the new Butterflies album and Leonard Cohen for weeks now. And I'm really excited by some of the records I have- my best friend bought me one on Rephlex which is Meccano robots playing ancient instruments, how fucking great does that sound? I don't know, I haven't listened to it yet.

So yeah, make me listen to them. Or alternatively tell me I'm not alone in this inability, as I'm feeling like a bit of a twat right now.

Oh, I've got mountains of unlistened-to records, I'll get through them eventually. Stick 'em on whilst yr arsing around on the interweb.

Yeah, don't worry about it. Binge buying/receiving = dud, but just throw the records in the pile and carry on as normal. One'll surface eventually just when you've forgotten all about it and you'll play it instantly. I can't promise that you'll like it, however.

WHAT? Someone else got my idea? (Except my idea didn't include ancient instruments, but normal drums -- a proper drum machine!) Actually, I'm intrigued. Which record is this?

Captured by Robots has a robot drummer playing real drums... he's pretty good, actually... for a robot.

i have that problem too, i just cant be arsed or motivated to listen to new things half the time, and it pisses me off too. i just buy labums fall in love for a while and ignore everything else new that i've bought. if i listen to something on headphones, like walking to work or whatever i always find i listen to it really carefully and pick out bits i've never heard before and appriciate bits before as well. so when i get something new i always like it more on headphones first. try that maybe...

The record in question is 'Meccanoid' by Pierre Bastien. I think what I am going to do is tape all the stuff I've bought and just make myself listen to it whilst on buses.

Another band with a robotic drummer is Octant, but I haven't heard them.
