Raven Symone can sing

I just saw her version of "Under the sea" on the Disney Channel. About halfway through my passive television-mode mind stopped and I realized: She can sing.

Now considering how many current pop stars Disney has bred; I saw Hillary Duff, Nick Carter, Lindsay Lohan and many many other teen popstars on disney wayyy before I saw them anywhere else, this really makes me hope Raven is next. She really sings in a way people don't sing any more; she carrys the melody and doesn't show off and has a lot of power.

But I'm only dreaming anyway because she looks like she actually eats sometimes and from what I can tell she has a sense of humor, so she really has no shot at it.

Search: "Supernatural," from the That's So Raven soundtrack (PS her signature eyebrows-and-nostrils acting style has developed really strikingly from Cosby to the present day).

Oh wait no, I mean "Mystify" from the album.

Raven Symone can sing but so far she's chosen to put her better-than-Ashanti-at-best pipes to material that's about as appealing as having your colon yanked out of your ears.

I think she has that whole problem of the show locking her to a pre-teen audience, which seems to shunt people into that world of horrible music -- the stuff is deliberately toothless, but then it can't even embrace its toothlessness, because it's also required to pretend to aspire to some kind of seriousness or adulthood. I guess her last full-length made an attempt to be all grown and stuff, but eh.

I take it back, though: I think that Sara Paxton single pretty effectively embraced its toothlessness, but I suppose that might be a genre issue (fluffy pre-teen rock vs. r&b).

that pic of her would be way more attractive if she weren't wearing pepto pink.

I still prefer Keshia Knight Pulliam.

Raven's show is funny, and she sang well in the "Cheetah Girls" movie, and she was even pretty cool on "Punk'd." Good role model for my daughter, who would never wear that shade of pink anyway so it's all good.

two weeks pass...
I think that she is a very good role modle and I also like the way she sings, dances, and I like her style but she needs to lose a little more weight. But other than that I like her.
