how great is the lead singer of the pussycat dolls?

not only is she incredibly hot but she sings better than 95% of all r&b and pop femmes that are out right now.
the dolls are pretty great too, they are a fantastic cabaret act.
shame dont cha is the best song on the pussycats album.
still, something tells me the lead singer and most of the dolls are lesbians. which is fine, yet a little dissapointing.

Her name is Nicole Sterzinger and she was also the lead singer for the US Popstars group Eden's Crush, who had a minor late 90s hit with "Get Over Yourself (Goodbye)".

Dan (Reality Show Addict) Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 22 November 2005 14:41 (twenty years ago)

She is a grate singer. Sounds like an even worse Anastasia to me.

nicole scherzinger, sez google:

She looks pretty hott to me, I must admit. The record was a bit lame though.

Pashmina (Pashmina), Tuesday, 22 November 2005 15:23 (twenty years ago)

...the last couple of pussycat dolls rekkids, that is. Dunno abt Eden's Crush, though I like the name.

Pashmina (Pashmina), Tuesday, 22 November 2005 15:24 (twenty years ago)

Argh, I knew I was going to get that wrong.

But yes, she is hott. Ivette from Eden's Crush was also hott.

Dan (Ivette Did Shows At La Scala) Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 22 November 2005 15:28 (twenty years ago)

i think 'don'cha' is overhated.

Theorry Henry (Enrique), Tuesday, 22 November 2005 15:28 (twenty years ago)

I don't hate it, I just don't think it's much cop. the only thing I like about it is the way the rapper overruns in a kind of laughably inept sounding way.

Yeah, I know! (x-post to dan p)

It was the first good pic on google image search.

The other member of eden's crush they list is also very attractive:

http://www.mixedfolks.com/images/mailemisajon.jpg

Pashmina (Pashmina), Tuesday, 22 November 2005 15:37 (twenty years ago)

Were Eden's Crush all "mixed folks" then?

Oh No, It's Dadaismus (and His Endless Stupid Jokes) (Dada), Tuesday, 22 November 2005 15:39 (twenty years ago)

In all honesty, when I saw the url on the google image search page, I assumed it referred to folk music. (me = stoopid, haha)

Pashmina (Pashmina), Tuesday, 22 November 2005 15:40 (twenty years ago)

Anyway, I suppose I should ask - were they (eden's crush) any good?

Pashmina (Pashmina), Tuesday, 22 November 2005 15:41 (twenty years ago)

They were... okay. Their big single was fun enough but there really wasn't anything more to them than the one song.

I'm kind of shocked that everyone in Eden's Crush isn't on that site because all of them were a mix of Hispanic/Asian/Native America/Hawaiian/[insert non-African ethnicity here]! They were all really attractive except, of course, the one girl who had been modelling before trying out for the show:

Dan (Ivette Is In The Middle) Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 22 November 2005 15:49 (twenty years ago)

Pashmina's link didn't take me directly to the photo and then I had to navigate the site, which was a mixed bag.

I don't know what's worse, that joke or the fact that I chuckled at it.

Dan (Easily Amused, Table For One) Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 22 November 2005 16:02 (twenty years ago)

I haven't seen any of the videos and I'm in no rush. I think I like "Stickwitu" (or at least the chorus of it) more than any of the recent Mariah singles.

'Twan (miccio), Tuesday, 22 November 2005 16:05 (twenty years ago)

omg k/l, argh, haha.

Pashmina (Pashmina), Tuesday, 22 November 2005 16:08 (twenty years ago)

yeah, "Stickwitu" has that breathy sigh sort of feel that I love in my R&B slow jams, reminds me of Daydream-era Mariah.

The Good Dr. Bill (The Good Dr. Bill), Tuesday, 22 November 2005 16:23 (twenty years ago)

Actually, Norm and Dan, I didn't intend to make that bad joke, I was trying to say something like "an unattractively designed website with photos of attractive people" but, with my brain as enfeebled as it is, that was what came out.

Sororah T Massacre (blueski), Tuesday, 22 November 2005 16:44 (twenty years ago)

Nicole was very nice, very hot, but about as smart as a sack of hammers. She dated the bass player for 311 during the shoot (and presumably sometime after) and would steal away during the show to hang out with him.

Ivette was horrible and couldn't sing AT ALL. She made the group because she seemed nice (but wasn't). They were going to kick her out in the first round but the producers insisted that she stick around. After the group broke up she did dinner theater in jersey.

Maile was nice (and hot) but thought she was Mariah Carey when she made the group. I don't know what happened to her, but I'm positive I saw her singing on the news at a ribbon-cutting ceremony somewhere. She and Ivette hated each other.

Ana Maria was not as hot as she thought she was and not nice. She probably resumed her career as a backup singer for Enrique Iglesias.

Rosanna was incredibly cool and very, very smart and had music taste that belied the crap they made her sing. She went on to be a correspondent for that short-lived Ryan Seacrest talk show.

gear (gear), Tuesday, 22 November 2005 17:00 (twenty years ago)

one of the distant runner-ups on the show was actually Nikki McKibbon, who ended up placing third in "American Idol" one year.

gear (gear), Tuesday, 22 November 2005 17:01 (twenty years ago)

David Foster was on the show as well, as the producer of the album. He didn't do much except call a rather nice girl who dropped out of the show a "cunt".

gear (gear), Tuesday, 22 November 2005 17:04 (twenty years ago)

Angela Peel (aka The One Who Liked To Dress Like A Supervillain Who Got Bounced On The First Season AI Second-Chance Show) made it to the semi-finals of I think the second season of Popstars.

Ivette benefitted from some AMAZING editing! Every clip they showed of her had her coming across as being super sweet and very talented.

Dan (Why Do I Know This????) Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 22 November 2005 17:37 (twenty years ago)

She is a grate singer. Sounds like an even worse Anastasia to me.

eh?

Sounds like a poorer Anastasia. Is very grating.

Dan (Anastasia Sounds Like A Drag Queen) Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 22 November 2005 21:41 (twenty years ago)

Either way she is absolutely terrible.

Zed Szetlian (Finn MacCool), Tuesday, 22 November 2005 21:47 (twenty years ago)

In fact I'm pretty sure I would like "Don Cha" if it weren't for her.

Zed Szetlian (Finn MacCool), Tuesday, 22 November 2005 21:47 (twenty years ago)

"Yeah, not much chance of you sleeping with her now is there?"

my point exactly. before i found out they might all be lesbians, i was taking it for granted that id be bedding them sequentially in the first week in january 2006 but since the lesbo thing came to light, ive had to find another hot girl group. such is life.

okok, Tuesday, 22 November 2005 22:01 (twenty years ago)

Ivette played the camera like crazy, Dan! and she was completely, completely without talent.

i have those godddamned songs in my head

gear (gear), Tuesday, 22 November 2005 22:23 (twenty years ago)

Uh-huh
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Get over, get over (listen)

Yeah, I was right there like a little wife
I was everything that you need, always in line
I was livin' you, lovin' you
Fillin' your desires
But that was then, this is now
Look me in the eye and

Oh, oh
If love could choose sides
Oh, oh
It's taking mine

[1] - Get over yourself, goodbye
It must be hard to be you, yeah, livin' in your life
I was always the one to cry
Now everything, everything, everything is alright
Get over yourself, know why
Cuz without you, see I do anything I like
Sometimes I stay out all night
And everything, everything, everything is alright

This just can't be it i kept telling myself
And every magazine said was me was on the shelf
I was givin' out, givin' in
Givin' away my dreams
You put it in, put me down
Now I got my self-esteem

Oh, oh
Won't get me back, no
Oh, oh (no no)
You think I overreact, yeah

[Repeat 1]

So now you wanna talk
Say let's do it just once more for luck
Like old times make up
Better yet, just forget
Better get over yourself

Stay in touch
When you learn a few things about love (tell me baby)
Until then wake up
Better yet, better get
Better get over yourself

Get over yourself, goodbye (over yourself, goodbye)
Over yourself, over yourself
Get over yourself, goodbye (over yourself, goodbye)
Over yourself, over yourself

Get over yourself, goodbye
Cuz without you, see I do anything I like
Sometimes I stay out all night
And everything, everything, everything is alright

[Repeat 1]
[Repeat 1]

Get over yourself, goodbye (everything is alright)
Everything is alright (get over yourself)
Get over yourself, goodbye (everything is alright)
Everything is alright (get over yourself)
Get over yourself, goodbye

Dan (GOODBYE) Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 22 November 2005 22:28 (twenty years ago)

The second "like me" in the chorus sounds like a bad edit. It's been locked too tightly to the grid in Pro Tools and smacks of "we couldn't get a clean take where they actually sang with the correct phrasing, so we'll just do this". It grates me every time I hear it.

The Pussycat Dolls - I bigger bunch of peronality-free, head-wobbling, ass-jiggling, self-assembly identikit marionettes I have never seen.
You can almost see the transluscent strings jerking their wooden limbs about on stage as their record company masters manipulate them from high up on the gangplank.
Whether any of them can sing or not is a moot point considering that their first single was so unbelievably crass and awful I'd challenge anyone to make it halfway decent.
I wouldn't be surprised if they turned out to be astonishingly poorly built robots .

So are they actually a group? Because I've only heard the one girl sing. Or is it the singer and the rest are dancers? What is going on!?

I liked Dont Cha at first, because the sax (or sax synth, I can't tell) sounded so 80s new wavey but it was absolutely played to death. Their new song is good though.

Nicole tried that and figured out it wasn't that lucrative after 3 solo singles flopped, which is why PCD are coming back out right now.

Ohmygod I love Nicole, she's pure awesome hotness, wrapped in a layer of sass and finished off with a dash of FIERCE. Don't cha is shit, Wait A Minute, I Don't Need A Man are pretty great and the latest song When I Grow Up is cool too. I also miss the sexually ambiguous one with the red hair, she was weird but girl could dance.
new single is awesome. like 'something kinda ooooh' by girls aloud except loads better. Lets not get crazy, its amazing but its nowhere near as good, its different and I ADORE the 'hahaha' sneering tone of it all but Something Kinda Oooh is far and beyond better. When I Grow Up's beat is too simplistic and club based to be better than Something Kinda OOh.
