donut otm about Chumbawamba, they have typically given advert money to whatever group diametrically opposes said advert. They did this with Renault (the car company) once, did an ad (I think it was using the song "Amnesia", actually) and gave the money to Carbusters magazine. In an unrelated incident, they also bought The Ex equipment to tour Ethiopia, flew it over there, and then left the gear for the Addis Ababa music school. So they'll probably give the McDonald's money to PETA or somethin'.

But yes, I feel the pain of that "song desecrated by commercial" moment. It doesn't hurt as much as it would if it were, say The Specials' "Doesn't Make It Alright", but maybe that's just b/c that song means more to me than the Madness one.
