I'm pondering making a comp for a friend with the following tracks - give me suggestions for additions:

Linda Lamb - Hot Room (Tiga Mix)
Gina X - Nice Mover
2Raumwohnung - Spiel Mit (Alter Ego Mix)
Alice Machine - Night Hunt
Lene Lovich - My Lucky Number
The Slits - Heard It Through the Grapevine
Savage Progress - My Heart Begins To Beat
Westbam ft. Nena - Old School, Baby
Bush Tetras - Things That Go Boom in the Night
Playgroup - Make It Happen
Glass Candy - Sugar & Whitebread
Goldfrapp - Let's Get Physical (Live)
Khan - Les Gros Nichons
MIA - Factorycityelectro (Punk Rmx)
Quarks - I Walk (Superpitcher Mix)
Shocking Blue - Love Buzz
The Passions - I'm In Love With A German Film Star

(a few notes: my friend is already familiar with The Knife, Siouxsie Sioux and "No G.D.M.", perhaps my favourite track in this genre. I should credit the Eskimo/Tigersushi axis for doing so much to bring a lot of the above to my attention - they're obsessed with it!)

The Passions - I'm In Love With A German Film Star

one of my favorite songs in all of pop music.

I think Lush spent their entire career strategizing different ways to remake it.

I'm disappointed that more of you aren't helping me out with this.

Please can you explain the thread title?

I'm not really hearing "german film star" in Lush's sound, but best pop song ever in any case.

You should have some Utada on this, e.g. "Devil Inside"

Swamp Children, Propaganda, Marianne Faithfull-Broken English, Christienne F.-Wunderbar, Mya and the Mirror-Hesitation, Domina-Dominas, Drinking Electricity-Subliminal, I can think of a bunch more...a friend said she was obsessed with Ice Queen music.

not that they're all frigid, Swamp Children is faux-jazzy and sexy, but good female vocals.

Lydia Lunch, esp. "Champagne, Cocaine, Nicotine Stains" owns, this thread. Also Grace Jones, e.g. "Walking in the Rain"
