where?

do tell

Savin All My Love 4 u (Savin 4ll my (heart) 4u), Wednesday, 23 November 2005 05:33 (twenty years ago)

Oooh, where oh where can we find this?

Nathalie (stevie nixed), Wednesday, 23 November 2005 11:25 (twenty years ago)

As if you all don't know know the answer!

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Wednesday, 23 November 2005 11:30 (twenty years ago)

there's a song that sounds EXACTLY like electronic's "get the message"

johnny thunder, Wednesday, 23 November 2005 12:11 (twenty years ago)

I like it, it's quite a full album - less rhythym-based than most albums from DJs. And I've always been fond of his vocal style, although I know that's a personal preference. He's also managed to cover Talking Heads' 'Burning Down The House' and not fuck it up.

Anna (Anna), Wednesday, 23 November 2005 12:12 (twenty years ago)

hahaha, i didn't realise this was the genuine actual title.

Sororah T Massacre (blueski), Wednesday, 23 November 2005 12:21 (twenty years ago)

Mmm I can't wait.

The Lex (The Lex), Wednesday, 23 November 2005 14:30 (twenty years ago)

not impressed. but then i've never been much of a Tiga fan. for me, a little of his voice/schtick goes a long way.

what do you call an album where the whole thing sounds like filler?

rentboy (rentboy), Thursday, 24 November 2005 03:43 (twenty years ago)

uh talking heads' burning down the house?

s1ocki (slutsky), Thursday, 24 November 2005 03:56 (twenty years ago)

I know Steve, it made me laugh as well. Planet Sexor is apparently the place in his head where anything goes, although he says he knows it sounds like "complete bullshit" when he tries to explain it.

That cover's on my copy Slocki. Do you not have it or were you questioning the choice?

Anna (Anna), Thursday, 24 November 2005 10:30 (twenty years ago)

I really like it, although I've only heard four songs so far. It doesn't seem like filler, but I can understand what you mean. I'm just an unabashed Tiga fan.

Nathalie (stevie nixed), Thursday, 24 November 2005 10:38 (twenty years ago)

it's ACTUALLY called that?? heh.

piscesboy, Thursday, 24 November 2005 11:38 (twenty years ago)

People keep telling me he's HOTT but he's almost impossible to google. Is this him:

????

The Damp Is Rising (kate), Thursday, 24 November 2005 11:57 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, I think so.

I think he lurks on ILX, why else pick Sexor as a title? ;-)

Nathalie (stevie nixed), Thursday, 24 November 2005 12:04 (twenty years ago)

If that's him... BLIMEY, ANNA, WHY DID YOU NOT PUT HIM IN YOUR SUITCASE AND BRING HIM BACK FROM BELGIUM?!?!?

Ha hem.

uh-oh...

Sororah T Massacre (blueski), Thursday, 24 November 2005 12:57 (twenty years ago)

have u not heard this yet stevem?

what's 'uh-oh' about the title, its not an ACTUAL ballad is it??

piscesboy, Thursday, 24 November 2005 13:06 (twenty years ago)

I've only heard the singles and 'Louder Than A Bomb' ages ago.

Sororah T Massacre (blueski), Thursday, 24 November 2005 13:13 (twenty years ago)

(He is one of the most attractive men I've ever met in my life, not that that should make any difference to the album.... )

Anna (Anna), Thursday, 24 November 2005 13:17 (twenty years ago)

I'm excited.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 24 November 2005 13:23 (twenty years ago)

YSI please, as and when someone gets it :)

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 24 November 2005 13:23 (twenty years ago)

If I find my copy from under the mound of CDs and the like in the living room, then I'll lend it to you. I'd rather not YSI because 1) my computer is shit and 2) I'd rather like to stay on the mailing list that means I got it in the first place.

Anna (Anna), Thursday, 24 November 2005 13:32 (twenty years ago)

New double twelve promo "Good as Gold" has Morgan Geist and Zdar remixes...

JoB (JoB), Thursday, 24 November 2005 13:33 (twenty years ago)

Anna - don't worry about lending it, I'm sure it'll appear somewhere soon enough.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 24 November 2005 13:35 (twenty years ago)

But... but... you said I could borrow it after the last rehearsal!

-Stroke-Model (kate), Thursday, 24 November 2005 13:38 (twenty years ago)

OMG I DIDN'T REALISE HE WAS THAT FIT!!!

(anna can you lend it to me too pretty please)

lex logged out, Thursday, 24 November 2005 13:44 (twenty years ago)

I said he was stunning! (I will die if he does lurk)

Anna (Anna), Thursday, 24 November 2005 13:48 (twenty years ago)

No woman can love me more than I do.

Tiga, Thursday, 24 November 2005 13:50 (twenty years ago)

but a man sure can.

lex logged out, Thursday, 24 November 2005 13:58 (twenty years ago)

Excelsior!

-Stroke-Model (kate), Thursday, 24 November 2005 14:02 (twenty years ago)

Oops, I mean excelSEXOR

-Stroke-Model (kate), Thursday, 24 November 2005 14:03 (twenty years ago)

That cover's on my copy Slocki. Do you not have it or were you questioning the choice?

no i was just joshin' cuz it's an AL GREEN song! (originally. but maybe he covers it in a talking headsish way)

s1ocki (slutsky), Thursday, 24 November 2005 14:27 (twenty years ago)

I'm sorry, but this thread needs more pictures:

http://www.hauward.pl/jpg/archiwum/tiga.jpg

-Stroke-Model (kate), Thursday, 24 November 2005 14:31 (twenty years ago)

s1ocki, "Burning Down the House" is a Talking Heads song, you're thinking of "Take Me To The River" which is an Al Green cover.

jed_ (jed), Thursday, 24 November 2005 14:48 (twenty years ago)

it's all over slsk, matt.

anyway, it's awesome! i was ready to be a bit snarky about the fact that 3 of these songs have been available for 18 months (and i still think he should have made an album 2 years ago), but on 1st listen i love it to bits.

toby (tsg20), Thursday, 24 November 2005 17:25 (twenty years ago)

jed... you're totally right & i have no idea what the hell i was thinking.

s1ocki (slutsky), Thursday, 24 November 2005 17:26 (twenty years ago)

All over SLSK except for us Apple losers. :-( I can't seem to find a copy. Bummah.

He's not looking very fit here, though:

ROFL.

Nathalie (stevie nixed), Thursday, 24 November 2005 17:42 (twenty years ago)

i still think he should have made an album 2 years ago
He's been making it about that long.

Anna (Anna), Thursday, 24 November 2005 18:15 (twenty years ago)

s1ocki - temporary insanity. i get it all the time.

The album is entitled Welcome To Sexor, btw.

Ricki Lake (daddy warbuxx), Thursday, 24 November 2005 23:44 (twenty years ago)

No, that's what it says on the inner sleeve. The cover is very clear about the album title and it's Sexor.

JoB (JoB), Thursday, 24 November 2005 23:51 (twenty years ago)

DFA just finished a remix of Far From Home.....

GALKIN (GALKIN), Thursday, 26 January 2006 21:48 (twenty years ago)

seriously?

i have NO CLUE how TIGA has won the HEARTS of so many people... incl. some of my fave/respected djs/producers (you know who you are)!?!?

i.just.don't.get.it... will someone please explain it to me???

i can deal with most of the music (but they still sound like throwaways from each producer)... but the vocals/lyrics/image???

c'mon... a modern day milli vanilli me thinks.

and an artist noted for his (horrendous) covers... yet another problem.

anyone remember a band called the ataris?

my name is... (downtown81), Thursday, 26 January 2006 22:32 (twenty years ago)

He's kind of hit and miss, but I think he's done some great stuff especially his remixes. And he's no Milli Vanilli, that is his voice (and I think it sounds cool).

Search:
"Ocean Drive (Tiga's White Linen Vox)"
"Machine Says Yes (Tiga Remix)"
"Washing Up (Tiga Remix)"
"E Talking (Tiga's Disco Drama Remix)"
"Pleasure From The Bass"
"Burning Down (London's Burning)"
"You (Better Let Me Love You X4) Tonight"

Destroy:
"Tv Treated (Tiga's Treated Vox)"
"Madame Hollywood (Tiga's Monsieur Hollywood Remix)"

Destroy:
"Tv Treated (Tiga's Treated Vox)"

This seemed like such a good idea until I heard it.

Michael A Neuman (Ferg), Thursday, 26 January 2006 23:41 (twenty years ago)

I know, same here!

LeRooLeRoo (Seb), Thursday, 26 January 2006 23:48 (twenty years ago)

um, its not always his voice.

um, its not always his music.

but it is always his pic.

my name is... (downtown81), Thursday, 26 January 2006 23:54 (twenty years ago)

What's wrong with his pics?

LeRooLeRoo (Seb), Friday, 27 January 2006 00:29 (twenty years ago)

what did you all think of his Tribulations remix? I think the DFA thing was a trade maybe. I like the remix anyway, sounds somewhere between Recurring era Spacemen 3 and George Michael! Not sure when it comes out....

GALKIN (GALKIN), Friday, 27 January 2006 00:50 (twenty years ago)

the tribulations mix was cool... 'cause he was smart enough not to "cover" james' vocals!!!

my name is... (downtown81), Friday, 27 January 2006 01:10 (twenty years ago)

BUT... it doesnt come close to the lindstrom mix ;)

my name is... (downtown81), Friday, 27 January 2006 01:12 (twenty years ago)

Hi Galkin, is it possiblefor you to post that DFA remix of Far from Home?

Cheers.

p.s. Tiga remix of LCD is one of his best work (in my opinion).

kaiser, Wednesday, 8 February 2006 18:50 (twenty years ago)

this stuff is really terrible.

cutty (mcutt), Friday, 17 February 2006 21:16 (twenty years ago)

NO!

Codename: Paul Scholes (nordicskilla), Friday, 17 February 2006 21:17 (twenty years ago)

I'LL BE THE JUDGE OF THAT!~

team jaxon (jaxon), Friday, 17 February 2006 21:20 (twenty years ago)

yeah, this ain't my thing

team jaxon (jaxon), Friday, 17 February 2006 21:36 (twenty years ago)

Not conscious enough?

Codename: Paul Scholes (nordicskilla), Friday, 17 February 2006 21:38 (twenty years ago)

haha. eat me. i don't like concious rap and you know it.

team jaxon (jaxon), Friday, 17 February 2006 22:00 (twenty years ago)

it's too european (even though he's canadian)

team jaxon (jaxon), Friday, 17 February 2006 22:00 (twenty years ago)

salaam aleichem!

Codename: Paul Scholes (nordicskilla), Friday, 17 February 2006 22:17 (twenty years ago)

Tiga is generally good, but ... the album format is apparently just not his thing.

And he is the world's most boring DJ.

Celebrity DJs only seem to disappoint me anymore. Local record nerds seem to work much harder at being creative. All rockstars have to do is show up and play whatever the hell they want.

Snore.

Sexor? Snore.

Cameron Octigan (Cameron Octigan), Friday, 17 February 2006 22:19 (twenty years ago)

I sort of like the idea that even Canada is too European for Americans!

Come to think of it, aren't the major US coastal cities also a little too European? I don't trust them myself.

Under the paving stones, Paul Scholes (nordicskilla), Friday, 17 February 2006 22:39 (twenty years ago)

the singles and remixes are awesome

but yeah the "album tracks" are just

just

Thomas Tallis (Tommy), Friday, 17 February 2006 22:47 (twenty years ago)

Celebrity DJs only seem to disappoint me

Meaning Tiga? He's been a professional DJ since he was 17-years-old, i.e. for the last fifteen years... (and yeah, I like the album a lot.)

JoB (JoB), Sunday, 19 February 2006 01:20 (twenty years ago)

it's ok, a bit of a laugh.

he's a good DJ though! he's creative as hell. whether or not you like the tunes that's one thing I'm afraid you can't really criticise him for, he doesn't do just straight up DJ sets, lots of accapellas and stuff. I'm sure it's probably not my favourite stuff in the world either that he plays (though none of it is awful), but he's a good DJ, if you compare him to some of his superstar DJ peers well.....streets ahead.

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 19 February 2006 15:33 (twenty years ago)

he was a good dj last night at bugged out, lots of fun and v v smooth. if you have a low pop tolerance level you probably wouldn't like his style though.

The Lex (The Lex), Sunday, 19 February 2006 19:37 (twenty years ago)

I don't think he's as pop as his persona though. He will always include a Cosmic Sandwich or Konrad Black or whatever for all the poppier tunes.

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 19 February 2006 22:13 (twenty years ago)

there is a uk version with 18 tracks on it if someone can source it....

In the 21st century we take for granted the amazing invention that is the compact disc, which has now been helping to increase our music collections for over 20 years. Today, every major artist releases their music on the CD format and the UK is the sales platform that can be the difference between success and failure. Due to the high number of titles flooding in to the UK from surrounding European territories the majority of UK releases now feature bonus or alternative recordings and/or exclusive enhanced content. Plus a limited edition release is a must for established artists and debutants alike. This, usually completed with a lyric & picture booklet, makes the UK CD album the priority purchase for any fan.

this stuff is really terrible.

i changed my mind. i fucking love this.

cutty (mcutt), Sunday, 12 March 2006 19:50 (twenty years ago)

In other news, sexor is Swedish for sixes (plural of six).

Anna (Anna), Monday, 13 March 2006 11:06 (twenty years ago)

gaw 'Far From Home' really does sound like 'Get The Message' with that chorus.

anyone seen the video? Both Tiga's suit and strut are rather excellent.

"tiga is a human, just like us"

Chex Dwarf (sanskrit), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 13:29 (nineteen years ago)

no he's not. he's a love alien from the planet sexor, where imagination rules the nation and sexy lightning always strikes twice!

cutty (mcutt), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 14:31 (nineteen years ago)

anyone who still doubts tiga actually is skillful (because he's fashionable and therefore must not have SUBSTANCE) needs to hear the Essential Mix.

Also could someone pass a copy to Sasha please, for a little Ableton lesson.

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 14 April 2006 15:07 (nineteen years ago)

OK this mix seriously is amazing. "Justify My Love" booted in Ableton over some totally deep Gabriel Ananda track, this is what house music should sound like!

Ronan (Ronan), Saturday, 15 April 2006 23:04 (nineteen years ago)

WHERE

cutty (mcutt), Saturday, 15 April 2006 23:06 (nineteen years ago)

Yes, the essential mix is brilliant, but Sexor is still pants.

Chantilly Bass (ChantillyBass), Sunday, 16 April 2006 01:32 (nineteen years ago)

I'm coming around to sexor, but leaving 'do it don't stop' and 'move my body' off = very foolish.

lil' merzbow wow (haitch), Sunday, 16 April 2006 06:57 (nineteen years ago)

I'm sure it's been mentioned on another thread, but just for the record:

i'm from hollywood, Sunday, 16 April 2006 16:30 (nineteen years ago)

gotta love how Tiga looks like a mildly perspiring electro sooperstar prepped n waiting for the next bout of evening's entertainment and ferry looks like a taxi driver from stoke newington at the end of a stinky gruelling summer shift.

piscesboy, Sunday, 16 April 2006 21:01 (nineteen years ago)

No way, Ferry is all kinds of slezy/dapper/cool in that. He has a pink light behind him rather than a red one too. Which is somehow cooler.
