any word as to where they're moving?

that's so taylrr (ken taylrr), Thursday, 24 November 2005 00:46 (twenty years ago)

None as of yet. I'll get a more substantial scoop on Saturday.

But Stormy Records is the only landmark that I can consistently find in Dearborn! They threw off my navigation for months the last time they moved!

I like their latest location, but also wondered how they could afford the lease on a space that big.

Jeff Sumner (Jeff Sumner), Friday, 25 November 2005 00:00 (twenty years ago)

maybe it's time to get off of michigan ave? or they could keep moving east (and closer and closer to my house!), but they're running low on dearborn in that direction.

Matt B. (Matt B.), Friday, 25 November 2005 02:42 (twenty years ago)

I dont like going to dearborn. I tried to see six organs there and got lost in some industrial complex. move to detroit.

Of course, no chance of getting lost in Deeetroit.

....and apparently a sale there this weekend as well

Speaking of Detroit record stores, how are Neptune, Young Rebel Souls and Harmony House doing these days?

Aaron W (Aaron W), Saturday, 26 November 2005 16:53 (twenty years ago)

neptune is way up their own bottom.

keyth (keyth), Saturday, 26 November 2005 17:10 (twenty years ago)

neptune is way up their own bottom.

So? It also has the most knowledgeable staff and the best selection of electronic, psych, dub, drone, reissues, experimental--basically, anything written about in The Wire.

original plagiarist (Da ve Segal), Saturday, 26 November 2005 20:23 (twenty years ago)

Hey, the Searching For Soul comp was supposedly put together by someone who runs a record store called Hawaii in Detroit. I've never heard of it, and googling did me nothin'. Know where it is?

js (honestengine), Thursday, 1 December 2005 05:36 (twenty years ago)

The guys at Neptune do A LOT of coke. Also, Harmony House as a chain is essentially no longer exists. There's the one on Woodward still and a "classical" Harmony House on orchard lake road. If there's any others I'm not aware of them.

I'm pretty sure the only HH left is the Berkley store. I went there maybe once or twice after Trans World took over.

The Neptune people are sweethearts.

seven years pass...

If you're planning on heading down there this week you might want to hold off

What is it with people who don't know how to drive in the snow/ice? If you live in Michigan, you should have it figured out by now.
