the cut-out series, now pennies-per-serving, some of these were not too great, but then again

my pick: vol 4 Dick Vaughan's Moribund Music of the Seventies

any survivors?

The Willsaphone Stupid Show cannot be matched, really.

my pick: vol 4 Dick Vaughan's Moribund Music of the Seventies

that's my pick too.

It's pretty beautiful -- it's probably Richard Lyons's best character -- but I think my favorite remains Pastor Dick, thanks to the absolutely serene way Lyons delivers his lines throughout.

"Get this man off the air, please."

(And is it cut-out now? Nutty. The extra goodies in most of the packaging were great.)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 25 November 2005 21:29 (twenty years ago)

(And what the hell, my AMG reviews:

Volume 1

Volume 2

Volume 3

Volume 4

Volume 5

Volumes 6, 7, 8 and 1 1/2 are all done by other good folk.)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 25 November 2005 21:44 (twenty years ago)

You are so gonna YSI them all Ned.

blunt (blunt), Friday, 25 November 2005 21:52 (twenty years ago)

Why thank you for volunteering!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 25 November 2005 22:26 (twenty years ago)

My collection's incomplete and hidden in the attic somewhere. Probably large spiders are keeping guard, too.

This is when you unleash the power of your ineluctable Swissness to destroy the arachnids.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 25 November 2005 22:35 (twenty years ago)

That's right, stop making sense altogether will you.

blunt (blunt), Friday, 25 November 2005 22:38 (twenty years ago)

Hooray!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 25 November 2005 22:41 (twenty years ago)

No. 4 is the easy hands-down best.

holy cow, the promos alone!

"Don't touch that dial, it's got Dick on it!"

I was always a fan of Jamcon '84, although my distant memory recalls it as being unlistenable on some level.

I wanted the Time Zones Project volume to riff on in more of the creepy/evocative manner as "Time Zones" on Escape From Noise, but alas.

I was always a bigger Tape-beatles fan, anyway!

Myke Weiskopf (Myke Weiskopf), Wednesday, 30 November 2005 17:44 (twenty years ago)

I used to have volume 6. I can't say it was my most listened to Negativland album though.

walter kranz (walterkranz), Wednesday, 30 November 2005 17:56 (twenty years ago)

The Dick Vaughn tape would be so much better if they included the actual songs. I actually wanna HEAR what "Van Man" and "Balderdash" sound like, dammit!

Mr. Snrub, Wednesday, 30 November 2005 18:02 (twenty years ago)

my favorites: 2 (pastor dick & muriel's purse fund), 4 (dick vaughan - few people on ILM wouldn't like this), 6 (willsaphone)
worth checking out: 3 (weatherman dumb-stupid come-out line), 5 (crosley bendix), 7 (timezones exchange project)
worth hearing once if you are fanatical: 1 (jamcon), 1.5 (starting line)
the only one I'm really not into is 8 (sex dirt)

these definitely shouldn't be mistaken for Negativland albums. they're documents of loose, largely improvised radio shows, 2-3 listens to most of them and you've got it, but 2, 4, 6 are like the best Firesign Theatre records

I remember KUCI had about 3 or 4 Bob Chance albums! He was based in Huntington beach, no?

Sbarrohawk (Mackro Mackro), Saturday, 25 October 2008 01:41 (seventeen years ago)

Anyway, he had a country album, a dance/disco album, a ballad album, and something else

Okay wait a minute, wait a minute. I wasn't the one who revived this thread? That's crazy. I just put Negagtivland on my iPod for the first time last weekend (Willsaphone Stupid Show).

Thanks for the link, Milton! I love anything to do with the Weatherman.

Lick The Vinyl (Bimble Is Still More Goth Than You), Saturday, 25 October 2008 17:43 (seventeen years ago)

LOL I just downloaded this Bob Chance song "The Van Man". I swear I don't remember hearing that in any Negativland thing before, but what a hilarious song! Love it.

Get Your Goth On (Bimble Is Still More Goth Than You), Sunday, 26 October 2008 20:57 (seventeen years ago)

Well I hope "Look Ma, I'm Dancin'" is the dance/disco album, cause I'm just purchased it online.
