Listening to a few works and this German composer and he seems to have fully assimilated the "american experimental tradition" - cage, wolff et al. - but not in an annoying way. Maybe that's because I think there's quite a bit more to his sensibility.

(Listening to 'fadenspiel' as I type this and I'd like to run off and start playing Wolff's classic 'exercise 15' recording on ed. wandelwesiser - but still, there seems to be more at work).

Just as a conclusion to the empty thread - The "Beginner's Mind" cycle (played by Ian Pace on piano) is a bit like a series dreams suddenly broken by waking - it combines satie like figures which are then disrupted - sometimes brutally so - as if Cage used his dice to determine when.

Or at least that is how it sounded last night..
