I'm curious how the sound was in that cavern, in case I ever choose to go to a show there.

EAT A BAG OF DICKS, JERKWAD.

if I stare at the above exchange long enough I start to feel like the secrets of the universe are about to reveal themselves, but then nothing actually happens

Bumped for potential input from those WITH pubic hair.

There are Bright Eyes fans over the age of 14?

I'm suddenly feeling hungry. Weird.

The King of Flop Threads (TCBeing), Monday, 28 November 2005 21:54 (twenty years ago)

Wait 'til somebody actually says something bad about Bright Eyes, there'll be hot tears in the old town toNITE

Banana Nutrament (ghostface), Monday, 28 November 2005 22:01 (twenty years ago)

yeah, I don't care about Bright Eyes either (sorry), but this hall sounds very nice. has it opened for other purposes as well?

gabbneb (gabbneb), Monday, 28 November 2005 22:08 (twenty years ago)

Is this a hall or a movie theater?

o. nate (onate), Monday, 28 November 2005 22:16 (twenty years ago)

An old picture palace. They show old movies every month or so.

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Monday, 28 November 2005 22:17 (twenty years ago)

I wasn't at these shows (nor do I like Bright Eyes), but have been inside the venue, and it's super-nice. The owner of Maxwell's put these shows on, so I bet there'll be more in the future. As for the sound quality, I dunno...

cdwill, Monday, 28 November 2005 23:38 (twenty years ago)

I don't like Bright Eyes either, but I do appreciate him helping to make Jersey City a bigger dot on the map, and hopefully contributing to the use of the Loew's as a full-blown venue.

Abbadabba Berman (Hurting), Monday, 28 November 2005 23:43 (twenty years ago)

I saw Ted Leo there several years ago, and the sound was pretty awful - really muddy - but the venue was amazing. I snuck "backstage," into the actual theater itself, which is one of the coolest old movie palaces I have ever seen.

Also, just for the record, sometimes it's fun to blow Jon Williams' mind by telling him that it's possible to like a wide variety of music - I remember some time ago telling him about the night I saw both Crom Tech and the Dave Matthews Band (at 2 different shows, obviously) - at least it might stun him into posting cool graphics or photos or something.

Mugged Outside the Jabberjaw, 1993 (Bent Over at the Arclight), Monday, 28 November 2005 23:47 (twenty years ago)

Hurting, is that you? How have you been?

cdwill, Tuesday, 29 November 2005 00:08 (twenty years ago)

Yup. Do you still live in Jersey City? I moved to 2nd and Coles.

Abbadabba Berman (Hurting), Tuesday, 29 November 2005 00:23 (twenty years ago)

I saw Bright Eyes at Constitution Hall. It was a bit puzzling when Rilo Kiley and C.O. joined opener Fesit in a song. Not so much C.O. but I wasn't sure what RK were doing there...

Mary (Mary), Tuesday, 29 November 2005 04:31 (twenty years ago)

I've been to movies at the Jersey, and the speakers were crackly, which is why I was curious.

Jon Williams' mind

There's a leap of faith.

I saw Bright Eyes at Constitution Hall.

where the Constitution was signed!

So I assume Mr "EAT A DICK" is the Admin who locked me outta the Noize board? You really need more hobbies, felchboy.

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Tuesday, 29 November 2005 18:29 (twenty years ago)

Hurting, I actually don't live in JC- I'm just there all the time.
2nd and Coles, huh? Prime spot.

cdwill, Tuesday, 29 November 2005 18:44 (twenty years ago)

He was joking, Gabster. Nice one for keeping up on the DC press, though.

Mary (Mary), Wednesday, 30 November 2005 06:25 (twenty years ago)

Amazing venue, but I fucked off to bed before Bright Eyes

snotty moore, Wednesday, 30 November 2005 15:08 (twenty years ago)

So the sound doesn't get all swallowed up?

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 30 November 2005 17:08 (twenty years ago)

i'm curious as to whether or not a search for 'bright eyes' was responsible for breathing new life into this gem.

Charlie Howard, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 11:09 (eighteen years ago)
