the music at your work Christmas party - classic or dud

One advantage of having your Xmo party in late November is that they do not play so much Christmas shite. And I experienced two charge to the dance floor moments - when they played 'A Town Called Malice' and 'Tainted Love'. Live the dream.

What music did they play at your Christmas party?

a friend was at a cryptography conference where The Sugarhill Gang performed 'Cryptographer's Delight'. But that was not a Christmas party. Anyway, we had the Blues Brothers at ours.

Ours is soo soo bad. This old, bald guy wearing a blue lamé shirt always djs and plays utter crap all afternoon. This year, we're not even allowed alcohol.

I was in charge of the music for ours last week, so I chucked a bunch of mp3s on a work laptop, set itunes to shuffle and let it do its thing. I probably shouldn't have put throbbing gristle on but it went over ok, haha!

I think a meet n' greet luncheon w/ the Dwarves is about the closest to a xmas work thang as we will get. That's not too bad.

Last year's Xmas part music was actually excellent, it reminded me of Poptimism, accessable and fun and bouncy. QUite snobby, but with plenty of floor-fillers. 8 thumbs out of 10.

My worst ever was four years ago, when the Hotel Banqueting Suite DJ played Boney M's "Mary's Boy Child" and Shakin Stevens "Merry Xmas Everyone" over and over again, on rotation, about once every thirty minutes.

It's usually top 40 hip-hop at ours. Could be worse, I suppose.

Slade, Wizzard. All the rest of the shitey nonsense that keeps 70s chart plodders in double garages and holidays to Corfu.

The music at our Xmas party will be GRATE because I'm doing it. Last year it was a couple of CDs of Xmas stuff during the meal, obscure but accessible with a reasonable 'what's this' conversation-starting factor, then when the tables were cleared a slightly more retro version of Poptimism. Went down a treat.
