I want to make a CDR of sleazy rock songs for a mate. I am thinking dirty coked up ballads and Stooges hard rocking filth + everything in between.
My first point of reference is "Don't Ever Leave Me Babe" by Hanoi Rocks.
Please share your dark desires and help me.

'Human Fly' by the Cramps. Brothelcreeper wearing goodness...

Kv_nol (Kv_nol), Tuesday, 29 November 2005 13:56 (twenty years ago)

rose tattoo "tramp"

i'm not so much endorsing the sentiments contained therein, but it fits the thread. and might be the only song in recent memory with a line like "mama, you got a certain sluttish grace."

el sabor de gene (yournullfame), Tuesday, 29 November 2005 14:04 (twenty years ago)

oh yeah, link wray "hidden charms."

el sabor de gene (yournullfame), Tuesday, 29 November 2005 14:05 (twenty years ago)

Great stuff...
I had a few more mainstream ones but I can't remember them - I'm sure there was a Psychedelic Fur's one on the edge of my brain somewhere

Vaneigem (Vaneigem), Tuesday, 29 November 2005 14:16 (twenty years ago)

"I'm Going Through Your Purse" -- The Mentors.
"Be My Slave" -- Bitch.
"LUmberjack" -- jack his lumber, baby -- Jackyl.

George the Animal Steele, Tuesday, 29 November 2005 17:05 (twenty years ago)

"trash" by the new york dolls, of course.

"sick on You" by Hollywood Brats -- London's answer to the new york dolls.

some early bon-era ac/dc was pretty sleazy -- "can I sit next to you girl?" and "squealer" come to mind

faster pussycat: "smash alley," "bathroom wall," "cat house," "no room for emotion"

Dead Boys: basically anything from young, loud and snotty.

"It's So Easy" - Guns N Roses

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Tuesday, 29 November 2005 17:20 (twenty years ago)

Strangely enough, the second track on that dead boys album is one of the songs that set me off on my little mission.

Vaneigem23, Tuesday, 29 November 2005 19:23 (twenty years ago)

some early bon-era ac/dc was pretty sleazy

"Love at First Feel"
"Touch Too Much"

George the Animal Steele, Tuesday, 29 November 2005 19:51 (twenty years ago)

"Sex Action" - LA Guns

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Tuesday, 29 November 2005 19:52 (twenty years ago)

nearly seven hours in and no "Big Bottom"?

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Tuesday, 29 November 2005 19:54 (twenty years ago)

"Incendiary Device" by The Johnny Moped Band
"Pirate Love" by Johnny Thunders and the Heartbreakers
(original LAMF mix mofo!)

What, no GG / Dwarves?

Edward III (edward iii), Tuesday, 29 November 2005 20:08 (twenty years ago)

I think there's some Johnny Thunders & the Heartbreakers stuff that would apply, though I can't quite think of the most appropriate song at the moment.

And while on the subject of Mr. Thunders, "Bad Girl" is sleazier than "Trash," isn't it?

"Don't Lie to Me" by Big Star (the live version is great). And there's lots of Alex Chilton on the creepy side of sleazy -- "Hey! Little Girl" is the first one that comes to mind, though little girls abound in his work.

Also, everything ever by the Electric Six.

(xpost -- great choice for Heartbreakers, Edward III)

A|ex P@reene (Pareene), Tuesday, 29 November 2005 20:10 (twenty years ago)

hell, even brian johnson-era ac/dc is sleazy.

let me put my love into you
given the dog a bone
what you do for money honey
let's get it up
cover you in oil

there are others I'm sure

Hot n' Nasty - Black Oak Arkansas

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Tuesday, 29 November 2005 21:04 (twenty years ago)

xpost, all right from GG's first, "Was, Is, and Always Shall Be."

I reckon the original of #1 Crush by Garbage is going on there too - any more girl type sleaze?

vaneigem23, Wednesday, 30 November 2005 12:34 (twenty years ago)

I must say, I am enjoying this thread. this sounds like it's going to be a great mix. i wish i could get a copy.

more suggestions ...

Garbage: "bad boyfriend" off of their new one. "vow" off of the debut.
The Donnas: "Get me off" is a good one.
Fluffy: "I wanna be Your lush"
Hanoi Rocks "Taxi Driver" and "Tragedy"

bsj30 (bsj30), Wednesday, 30 November 2005 14:26 (twenty years ago)

oh man, forgot some big ones:

los spitfires "ven cerca" (60s sleazy moaning rock stuff in espanol)
betty davis "if i'm in luck i might get picked up"

el sabor de gene (yournullfame), Wednesday, 30 November 2005 14:37 (twenty years ago)

More sleazy womyn:

"Claudine The Inflatable One" by PJ Harvey (that song puts most of the boys on this list to shame)
"Your Dragon" by Suckdog
"Come Again" by The Au Pairs

In case no one noticed, Joan Jett's "I Love Rock N Roll" is about picking up a teenage boy. "Lady Scarface" by Lydia Lunch is as well, though that's not quite as sleazy sounding.

I'm not familiar enough with Nashville Pussy or Tex & The Horseheads but something from either would seem appropriate.

How about gay sleaze? Check out The Frogs' "I Don't Care If U Disrespect Me (Just So You Love Me)"

Edward III (edward iii), Wednesday, 30 November 2005 15:32 (twenty years ago)

DOODS!

Check out this song by this band called the Sleaze! I found it just for this thread!

Seriously, the first song, Smokin' Fuckin' Cigs is amazing! Best guitar solo ever!

Sleazy!

Natural Thing -- UFO, about a case of VD
Bang Bang Lulu -- John "Dr. Dirty" Valby
Booger the Hooker -- Black Nasty

George the Animal Steele, Wednesday, 30 November 2005 16:57 (twenty years ago)

Cat Scratch Fever
Yank Me Crank Me

both by Ted Nugent.

George the Animal Steele, Wednesday, 30 November 2005 17:00 (twenty years ago)

I wonder if I can get Rough Lover by Posh on there?
Is that lame? Sort of proto electroclash indie I suppose. Maybe I'll be starting a revival?
It's reminded me of another song I just can't place of girls saying what they want to do to boys?
Oh and that's just reminded me of Darling Nikki by Whale, Whale have a few classics on this vibe don't they? Like "I'll do ya" for a start...

Vee (V...), Wednesday, 30 November 2005 17:18 (twenty years ago)

"Jack You Off" Prince

George the Animal Steele, Wednesday, 30 November 2005 17:26 (twenty years ago)

Shouldn't that be "Jack U Off"? And I don't think that qualifies as a "sleazy rock song" - more of a dirty funk song. Which is a different thread altogether...

No one's picked one from the Stooges - how about "Penetration"?

Edward III (edward iii), Wednesday, 30 November 2005 18:58 (twenty years ago)

i was thinking about "loose" too...

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Wednesday, 30 November 2005 19:19 (twenty years ago)

Sure it does. It was a basically a stop start syncopation on a boogie pattern, played on guitar. Lots of hard rock songs work that way. "Cheri Love Affair" by GG Allin & the Jabbers, for example, being another.
