Nothing but Allman Bros covers.

Awesome. Did she do "In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed"?

I think I still might persuade myself to go to the NY show. I saw her for the first time during CMJ and she was by far the best performer of the week...

It was OK, i guess. Her two managers filled up a coffee cup with Stella Artois and she downed it throughout the set.

She wore a red tweety bird sweatsuit and a black stussy shirt and her house keys around her neck.

Everybody loved "Hoodie."

She was definitely shy and not ready for all the photographers snapping in her face.

She hated hearing her voice over the speakers when the DJ spun one of her records.

After her set ended (50 min.) she feverishly got off stage and stood next to the door saying she needed a cigarette, repeatedly.

It was still fun though, worth my $15 i guess.

SETLIST:
- blah blah
- random
- 9-5
- tango
- the broom
- some song where she rapped over "hollaback girl"
- ch-ching
- fiddle with the volume
- hoodie
- public warning

nothing about signing to def jam, no jay-z, and all the brattiness you'd expect from a drunk 19-year old girl

Awesome show review, brokenfuses. Thanks

Vertically Challenged EP is kicking my ass on a regular basis right now.

Lady Sov: Redeemer of Rap-Metal?

She was good at Knitting Factory. I didn't expect the band, which was interesting. I'd never thought of "Blah Blah Blah" as nu-metal. And they totally turned "Public Warning" into a pogo Oi-fest. Pretty roxsome. Her new song about England was pretty hilarious, even though I couldn't hear all the words. "We're not all squeaky clean/We're not all posh like the queen," something about she doesn't wear bowler hats or have servants and mostly likes to sit around and get high. She wasn't threatening to throw up this time like at the last Knitting Factory show, but she talked about burping a lot, actually managing to do it a few times, complained about how bad she smelled because she was sweating so much and at one point offered to fart. Bodily emissions, the comedy gold that keeps on giving. But of course she's so endearing about it all that it's charming. Anyway, overall, big thumbs-up. She's a natch'l-born entertainer.

I love Lady Sov to pieces, but I wasn't feeling the frat-metal renditions of her songs last night. The drummer was crap, and everything felt so leaden and ponderous. At one point someone yelled out "This sounds like Korn", and my only correction would be that Korn has more energy.

I was really worried when I heard she was touring with a band. It's really really really difficult to pull off hip-hop (or grime or whatever the fuck you want to call it) with a band. Greater souls have died trying.

I didn't mind the band. They stayed out of the way most of the time. I also liked when she invited insults and someone yelled "Sell out!" and she just grinned and said, "Yeah! Money and success, that's what it's all about!" I wouldn't wanna hear the band on her record, but as a touring oddity it seemed OK.
