I was thinking about Eli Wallach yesterday, and how great a Jewish New Yorker was at playing a racist stereotype of a Mexican in an Italian made film.

I think anyone who's ever seen Paul Stanley and whathisname - Cheez Wiz, photos or TV, can say with absolute certainty that they look as Jewish as, oh, the cartoon stereotypes on old Deutscher propaganda posters.

Ones that even my Mum is aware of: Bob Dylan, Len Cohen, Lou Reed, Neil Diamond, Marc Bolan, Phil Spector, Bacharach and David, Carole King and Gerry Goffin, Leiber and Stoller, Jon Moss of Culture Club

Ones that NME readers are probably aware are Jewish: Justine Frischman, Louise Wener of sleeper, Stephen Malkmus, the Ramones, Chris Stein, Beck (half, apparently), the Beastie Boys, Kiss

Ones that NME readers may not realise are J-people: Rachel from S Club 7, Lenny Kravitz, Joe Strummer

Ones I'm still not sure about: Iggy Pop ? Sonic Youth ? Jason Kay as in Jamiroquai ?

I can't think of any that surprised this "Kike" in particular.

What about Jewish managers ? Now there's a list - Beatles, Stones, Led Zep, ELO, Small Faces.... Darren

Apparently, Craig David (now there's a 80s Barmitzvah invite name if there ever was one) is half-Jewish on his dad's side, by the way (as is David Beckham).

I think I posted about Steven Lee Beeber's book "The Heebie-Jeebies at CBGB's: A Secret History of Jewish Punk," on one of the books about music thread. I kinda liked it.

I was unaware that Neil Diamond was Jewish (well duh now that I think about it); I am having a hard time with this.

I remember being surprised that Shatner was Jewish (for whatever reason) while I had always assumed Nimoy was Jewish.

And obv they both are.
