It depends on how original your choices are. A lot of people as children develop intense love or hate relationships with songs that feature their name, so chances are if your picks are mainstream the recipient will either already own the song somewhere, or hate it passionately. But if you can dig up some old-school jams he/she's never heard of, if I were the recipient I'd appreciate it.
