Lawnmower Deth: My favorite Earache band after Godflesh. They really seemed to bring out the absurdity in Napalm Death.

Yep, a lovely one, too!
I asterisked lemon jelly, mike ladd, and charles lloyd, so i feel no remose re: those. About les rythmes digitales, i have no explanation.
New LAL sounded pretty awful to me, actually. *#1 U.S.A.* from '98 is the only one I cared to keep, and even that one may sound iffy now.

very nice stuff - only for the idea to be lifted wholesale by moby for 'play'.
lo-fi allstars - love em .. their second album was slated at the time, but reckon it has aged well and still love their disco groove.

Robin Lane's "Imitation Life" is one of the best fifty cent cutout LPs I've ever bought. I went through a period where I played that and Holly Vincent's second album religiously. A minor masterpiece of moody 80s female rock.

Lionrock had a video on MTV for two minutes that I liked. It was a dude riding around Jamaica on a moped, I think.

Legendary Shack Shakers -- after I gave this lunatic roots band a good review, Yeproc took me off their promo distro list. They must have took exception to the part about the band not fucking any chickens in the title.
The Lizards -- classic hard rock metal band whose album Rule featured the last known performance of John Garner of Sir Lord Baltimore. Then they fired him or he quit for the next CD and hired a much more nondescript singer. I traded the second one and still have Rule which also contains an ace version of "Kingdom Come."
Lost Goat -- stoner band trio with a girl guitarist front person. More jagged-sounding and obtuse than the usual stoner rock sleepover. I probably shouldn't have tossed it. No matter, I can still d/l it.
Leaving Trains -- Falling James' band. Made about a lot of records, one of which I liked, on SST, who published many. Last one I heard was on Steel Cage and was a live recording with a pic of the band in which he was wearing a dress, which I am told is a common thing.

i used to play in a band with a guy who left to be the leaving trains' touring bassist for about two months. when he came back, HE was wearing a dress, and he continued dressing that way for at least a couple years after that. beware the influence of falling james. he might also be responsible for courtney love turning out the way she did.

Los De Abajo, loved in the world music, WOMAD, scene. Somehow, underated in their country. Just beloved among the very bizarre ska scene.
Why on earth does Mexico have such a heavy love for bands like Lacrimosa?????? I'll never understand it. I have no words for them.
