aarrrrghhh. i saw it staring at me this morning making me feel guilty about having only heard 3 tracks off it or something. basically the problem is that the only tape player in my house is in the kitchen and when i'm cooking i tend to have radio 4 on blah blah blah. but i *will* move said tape player into my room this evening and hear it, i promise...

Have you heard the ep just released on Mogwai's label. Enjoyed the intricacy and development of the tracks, although haven't heard it enough to wallow in any potential beauty there (often find this with electronic stuff, approach it like post-modernist art, concept first, emotion second - however, Minotaur Shock gives me goosebumps). thought the gloomy pitched-down Amen track at the end was a bore tho'.

yep, i went to the nesh thing. there were a few people there who looked a bit like you, so i didn't say hi. i thought it was ok though nowhere near as good as the last couple of warp/rephlex things i'd been to...

yeh we went. goon was good to start with, but tailed off a little. in the middle things went a little, um, hazy, and i ended up missing fennesz. good overall though, but as you say, not as good as previous ones.

there was a girl there who i was sure i recognised and i was fighting against asking who she was, thankfully at the last minute i remembered that i recognised her from the previous nesh. doh!

the random number ep on rock action is pretty good yes (i actually like the amen track but it isn't representative of the newer stuff). there is an album on rocket racer coming out which has some really nice tracks on (more elegiac than frenzied), and there was a good spilt 12" last year on a v small label that i cant remember the name of...

didn't see goon at all (he was pretty shitty at the eyoe thing). venetian snares was brutal, fennesz ok, mark bell ok but i wasn't really feeling it, and mike paradinas was good but not in the vibert/afx class. but the more i think about it it was nothing in comparison to the ocean thing last year which was probably the best thing i've ever been to in my life (though prob partly to do with the fact that i had access to speed then but don't now, sadly).

anyway i listened to most of the random number tape over dinner and i'm pretty into it. the 2nd (or maybe 3rd) track was amazing, it had me turning the vol right up and skipping around a bit. the rest of it's at least good. i'm really off idm at the mo but if when i get back into it i suspect i'll love this.
