"Rockchester" is the best.

Was "Stormy Weather" by Fats Comet? I like that one.

Oh ya....and "Bop Bop"!!!

the Fats comet tracks are available on the Tackhead comps (Power Inv vols 1-4 - on keith leblancs label - blanc records)

http://www.keithleblanc.com/blancrecords/

.. not that this helps as they are buggers to track down and not often seen in the bins .. (well not round my way)

'bop bop', 'stormy weather' and 'rockchester' are totally classic as are their respective dubs.

'don't forget that beat' is not so great. 'deeydays dream' which is basically mark stewart's 'hypnotised' reworked is ok but the dub of it with william burroughs speaking and dj chesse scratching 'put a smile on your face' on top is fab.

there's a 12" called 'king of the beat' (a reworking of tackhead's 'is there a way out?' perhaps?) which was never officially released that i'd love to hear.

I was obssessed with Adrian Sherwood back then, but I kind of got the idea that those Fats Comet 12 inches were kinda, well, lightweight compared to his other output at the time, including Tackhead 12 inches like "Mind At the End of the Tether". Though who knows, maybe if I heard them now, that might mean I'd like them *more.*

i think fats comet was meant to be lighter. maybe a bit like tackhead's poppier, funkier, less paranoid cousin?

chuck. update your love. i have recent Mark Stewart + Mafia homecoming gig (Bristol) in mp3 form if you so desire. twas an amazing gig - Mark may have filled out in the flesh, but his voice was as wired and psychotic as ever, to such a level that Doug W declared it the best gig of his life (or sommat like that) .. it was indeed rather special.

Fats Comet was just another alias to me.. the only difference is that "Fats" sounded a but Tone-Loc-ish, so I guess that's the pop appeal Xhuxhxhxh may have been remembered. "Bop Bop" hasn't date too well at all.. but "Stormy Weather" is great, "Don't Forget That Beat" is weird, because it's kinda dated but still has that Sherwood/McDonald stuttered noise happening all over.

But, yeah, "Rockchester" is up there with the Tackhead related classics.

Also, all of those Tackhead "power" compilations are really fucking weak. The versions used on those are nowhere near as good as the original 12" versions.. and I'm not saying that as a collector snob..(how can one be a Tackhead collector snob when he/she can still find the 12"s used for no more than $5 a piece, anyway?). If I could freeze time, I'd properly digitize all of those singles 'til 1989 into one big box-set.. and let that speak for the Tackhead empire.

God, my grammer and tense is atrocious up there... apologies.. having to multi-task at a really stressful day at work.

What do you want to know about FC? I have their complete discography. Tack>>Head is even better though. Did you know the original lineup was touring again last year? I saw them... they completely kicked ass.
