i believe a former deerhoof alumnus plays guitar/electronics in this really great band called barn owl. from all i've seen, they are truly badass.

Lawrence the Looter (Lawrence the Looter), Tuesday, 6 December 2005 16:38 (twenty years ago)

Deerhoof is great. Runner's Four is their best album to date.

alot of this stuff i have never heard of. except melt banana- and yes, they rock. thanks for the input guys. except for esteban, who doesn't quite understand what 'indy' means, and fears the cutting edge as if it's a knife.

Robin Samples (Robin Samples), Wednesday, 7 December 2005 06:48 (twenty years ago)

and fears the cutting edge as if it's a knife

apparently the term 'cutting edge' isn't hip enough. sorry for being a nerd. it's good to see some deerhoof fans out there..

Robin Samples (Robin Samples), Thursday, 8 December 2005 06:25 (twenty years ago)

you are so bad.

Susan Douglas (Susan Douglas), Thursday, 8 December 2005 06:31 (twenty years ago)

Hey Robin, I like the new Deerhoof album. A few people here are giving you a bit of a hard time, but it's mostly because

1) They're (we're) cranky nerds, and
2) You seem to want to just bust onto the board without taking much time to get a sense of what the board is like, what the customs are, etc.. For example, if you read enough threads here, you can easily discover that people don't like it when you start a new thread on something that there's already been a thread on. All you have to do is use the "search" function before you start a thread to make sure, and if there already is one, you can just revive it. Also, one thing you'll quickly see here is that it's nearly impossible to shock people with one of your opinions. Many of the posters here are professional or semi-professional music critics. Some of them have been intensively listening to music longer than you've probably been alive. So you'll find plenty of people here, for example, who love Tortoise, plenty who hate them, and almost no one who will be very surprised or upset if you don't care much for them (and you can discover this by searching out the old threads).

Also, I don't think you'll find anyone on this board (except Geir maybe) who "fears the cutting edge."
