batman, Wednesday, 7 December 2005 07:39 (twenty years ago)

the next album is the mature album, but will feature a "fun throwaway" with federline rapping.

gear (gear), Wednesday, 7 December 2005 07:48 (twenty years ago)

its over, isn't it?

batman, Wednesday, 7 December 2005 07:57 (twenty years ago)

No. New album in 06.

edward o (edwardo), Wednesday, 7 December 2005 07:58 (twenty years ago)

i sit here and listen to "from the bottom of my broken heart" and realize that it was all for naught. no more songs, just endless tabloid jokes.

batman, Wednesday, 7 December 2005 07:59 (twenty years ago)

sure, new album in 06, but it will never be like this...

fuck growing older.

batman, Wednesday, 7 December 2005 08:00 (twenty years ago)

someone told me today she and her husband might join sweet charity on broadway.

poortheatre (poortheatre), Wednesday, 7 December 2005 08:02 (twenty years ago)

bah, what bullshit. broadway. that glorified wal-mart clerk, he will ruin her yet. im very drunk, and probably shouldn't care so much, but jesus, listen to "lucky", or "everytime". Was it really just stupid theatre, all along?

batman, Wednesday, 7 December 2005 08:06 (twenty years ago)

apparently she got his car towed away from their home and their marriage is in trouble. YAY!

The Lex (The Lex), Wednesday, 7 December 2005 09:04 (twenty years ago)

HAVE FAITH.

Amity Wong (noodle vague), Wednesday, 7 December 2005 09:07 (twenty years ago)

HAVE FAITH.
-- Amity Wong (noodle_vagu...), December 7th, 2005.
amity , you have a nice ville.lol
i have faith ( and listen without prejudice).

retroboy, Wednesday, 7 December 2005 10:30 (twenty years ago)

what the fuck difference does it make to britney's recording career whether she's had a kid or married the wrong dude or whatever? she needs to turn up at the studio on time, is all. the real question is whether her people will hire the right songwriters/producers.

Theorry Henry (Enrique), Wednesday, 7 December 2005 10:40 (twenty years ago)

99.9% of pop stars are not as good after having kids!

Sororah T Massacre (blueski), Wednesday, 7 December 2005 11:11 (twenty years ago)

hmmmm.

i dunno, i've never thought about it. i don't even know who has kids.

but i think ur probably being SEXIST.

Theorry Henry (Enrique), Wednesday, 7 December 2005 11:16 (twenty years ago)

i'll throw in racism at no extra charge (the rappers are the exception cos they often have kids before getting record deal).

Sororah T Massacre (blueski), Wednesday, 7 December 2005 11:21 (twenty years ago)

Sorry, I haven't eaten yet.

Sororah T Massacre (blueski), Wednesday, 7 December 2005 11:23 (twenty years ago)

i think, y'know, david bowie had kids quite young -- you never really find put with guys. but maybe he was in that 0.1%.

Theorry Henry (Enrique), Wednesday, 7 December 2005 11:27 (twenty years ago)

waht about that new one with jaques la conte, which i havent heard (hint)

anthony easton (anthony), Wednesday, 7 December 2005 11:38 (twenty years ago)

this is what rachel stevens is for

sovietpanda (sovietpanda), Wednesday, 7 December 2005 23:45 (twenty years ago)

I'm sure all her notes are stored safely on computer for producing. There will be more "Britney" records. Don't panic.

Rachel Stevens is for making Britney look human.

fandango (fandango), Wednesday, 7 December 2005 23:51 (twenty years ago)

OMG BRITNEY IS MANUFACTRUED MUSIC SHOCKAH!!!

Amity Wong (noodle vague), Thursday, 8 December 2005 00:32 (twenty years ago)

haha :D

not a shocker at all! which is why I think the concept of her personal life having any effect whatsoever on her music is ludicrous.

I realise now -- Theorry Henry already made this point upthread. Oh well.

fandango (fandango), Thursday, 8 December 2005 00:50 (twenty years ago)

99.9% of pop stars are not as good after having kids!

Which is why homosexuals make great pop stars!

Cunga (Cunga), Thursday, 8 December 2005 01:33 (twenty years ago)

one year passes...
Poor thing. Do you guys think she is over or what?

The Brainwasher, Sunday, 25 February 2007 07:06 (nineteen years ago)

I don't know.

Lostandfound, Sunday, 25 February 2007 07:08 (nineteen years ago)

I hope not.

Lostandfound, Sunday, 25 February 2007 07:09 (nineteen years ago)

Can I possibly be the first wise-ass to say that at least now the drapes match the carpet?

God. I hope so...

Saxby D. Elder, Sunday, 25 February 2007 07:10 (nineteen years ago)

Even Bill Maher made that joke last night.

I will say that her cover of "My Prerogative" kind of has a different ring to it now...

marmotwolof, Sunday, 25 February 2007 07:20 (nineteen years ago)

That's cool cuz I thought of that shit on Thursday.

Saxby D. Elder, Sunday, 25 February 2007 07:23 (nineteen years ago)

He read your mind!

Ned Raggett, Sunday, 25 February 2007 07:31 (nineteen years ago)

If I miss Britney, I sure don't miss the "I'm a Slave 4 U" or "Toxic" age Britney.

She did release a couple of rather good pop singles back in her Max Martin days though.

blueski, Monday, 26 February 2007 12:43 (nineteen years ago)

the only question now is whether this trough in her Behind the Music arc is one of those 1-2 year ones or whether the next decade is going to get the montage treatment - i sincerely hope the former, cause i miss Britney too! we are woefully short of robo-pop these days

Tracer Hand, Monday, 26 February 2007 13:01 (nineteen years ago)

I'm afraid that Britney is done as quality entertainment because, from now on, every album she records will be way too colored by her "narrative" and thus boring. So we've got a choice between an unproductive but somewhat entertaining meltdown, or series of overcooked strategic moves that will probably result in "mature" therapy-pop.

Erroneous Botch, Monday, 26 February 2007 15:35 (nineteen years ago)

She looks like Sice now.

Geir Hongro, Monday, 26 February 2007 23:41 (nineteen years ago)

one year passes...

"I'm A Slave4U" is her best single.

Dom Passantino, Friday, 23 May 2008 11:23 (eighteen years ago)

Absolutely not. I would go for "Oops I Did It Again" or some of the other early Max Martin stuff.

Geir Hongro, Friday, 23 May 2008 11:27 (eighteen years ago)

Dom is OTM but "Oops.." is also great.

HI DERE, Friday, 23 May 2008 13:26 (eighteen years ago)

Actually "Toxic" is her best, then "Slave", then "Oops".

jon /via/ chi 2.0, Friday, 23 May 2008 13:39 (eighteen years ago)

I really hate "Toxic" (and I am aware I'm one of the only ones).

HI DERE, Friday, 23 May 2008 13:41 (eighteen years ago)

"Break The Ice" is competing with "I'm A Slave 4 U" in the Favorite Single department.

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn, Friday, 23 May 2008 13:48 (eighteen years ago)

funny how totally not OTM people were about the possibility of britney having a good album left in her

marc h., Friday, 23 May 2008 13:55 (eighteen years ago)

or even the possibility that Britney had her BEST album left in her.

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn, Friday, 23 May 2008 13:55 (eighteen years ago)

"break the ice" might be her best single, for me. and "blackout" is clearly her best album.
what's up with her these days ?

AleXTC, Friday, 23 May 2008 15:21 (eighteen years ago)

I still love Blackout, though I prefer "Hot As Ice" to "Break the Ice" and wish there hadn't been too such similar song titles in it..

Finefinemusic, Friday, 23 May 2008 15:26 (eighteen years ago)

As I already said on the thread dedicated to this album, I think it's almost flawless. better than "futuresex/lovesound" and "loose" although "my love" is the best track of all these albums.

AleXTC, Friday, 23 May 2008 16:02 (eighteen years ago)

Oops used to be my absolutely favorite Brit song, but what with ALL THE AMAZING TRACKS off the new one, i just don't know. Break The Ice is fucking amazing.

Surmounter, Friday, 23 May 2008 16:10 (eighteen years ago)

current critical favor of britney's last album is so weird

deej, Friday, 23 May 2008 16:15 (eighteen years ago)

well I don't know if there's such a critical favor of "blackout". it only made 61 on metacritic, for instance. which is amazing considering how great it is !

AleXTC, Friday, 23 May 2008 16:21 (eighteen years ago)

it's really not that weird. as far as pop music goes, it's very smartly done.

Surmounter, Friday, 23 May 2008 16:24 (eighteen years ago)

SMARTLY I SAY

Surmounter, Friday, 23 May 2008 16:36 (eighteen years ago)

I don't find blackout half is interesting as justin's and nelly's last albums. There's nothing really distinctive about it... And it sounds a over-produced to me.

Christyles, Sunday, 25 May 2008 11:08 (eighteen years ago)

I like the overproduction on Blackout. (On the singles anyway.) This kind of Britney walked in and sang on valium type of singing. This completely disaffected delivery fits on these "over"produced tracks. Piece Of Me is so wonderful, she has this completely WTF I don't care attitude. She couldn't care less. As though she's just there on the ground lying there wanting people to take a piece of her.

(Toxic is grebt as well, but it's Slave4U that's the awesomest of awesome BritBrit tracks.)

stevienixed, Sunday, 25 May 2008 12:38 (eighteen years ago)

Heaven On Earth is the best Blackout track.
