hey guys, i know there are other sharrock threads, but i have a very specific question. i downloaded this WKCR session of sonny/linda and the savages, and i cant find the tracklist to save my life. i know one is called "sweet butterfingers," and another is called "peaceful." im not sure which ones are those, though, and i dont know the names of the other two.

help!

The Savages? Personnel?

here's an interview excerpt from 1973, and the WKCR thing is from 3/21/74, so maybe its the same people...

Rich Scheinin: …What do you say we just talk about what you're doing on your own now? …'Cause you've mentioned that you do have your own band together now.

Sonny Sharrock: We do have our own band, and here goes the big plug for our band.

Linda Sharrock: …It's Abe Speller.

Sonny Sharrock: Abe Speller, drums.

Linda Sharrock: And he also plays steel drums.

Sonny Sharrock: …Jose Santos, Latin percussionist, and playing congas and timbales and percussion, and—

Linda Sharrock: We had Sonny's little brother with us the other day.

Sonny Sharrock: [Laughs] That was just something special that—

Linda Sharrock: Yeah, but it was nice. He was playing the bass.

Sonny Sharrock: My younger brother Dave Artis was playing bass.

Okay, we know them then, just not as "the Savages" (think Abe's nephew posted on a Sharrock thread)

milton parker (Jon L), Wednesday, 7 December 2005 20:04 (nineteen years ago)

That one came through great, thanks.

Most of these tracks appear, in inferior versions to my ear, on the Paradise album.

Without a guide, we must ourselves ASK THE AGES.

If freejazz was more like comics, and nobody ever really died permanently, I'd be a lot happier.

Oilyrags, Thursday, 24 January 2008 05:24 (seventeen years ago)

seriously

BIG HOOS aka the steendriver, Thursday, 24 January 2008 05:32 (seventeen years ago)

This sounds like a perfect world.

Sparkle Motion, Thursday, 24 January 2008 06:08 (seventeen years ago)

Waht, hooze, all those free jazzers-back-to-their-roots LPs in the eighties weren't enuff for ya??

ian, Thursday, 24 January 2008 17:13 (seventeen years ago)

BIG HOOS aka the steendriver, Thursday, 24 January 2008 17:51 (seventeen years ago)

BIG HOOS aka the steendriver, Thursday, 24 January 2008 17:51 (seventeen years ago)

No lie, this little concert is a gem.

Sparkle Motion, Thursday, 24 January 2008 18:10 (seventeen years ago)

eight months pass...

Sonny and Linda's "Paradise" is A+ slick. Where the synth noodling ends, the yodeling begins. Righteous.
