Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Friday, 9 December 2005 14:14 (twenty years ago)

We Buy a Hammer For Dadaismus (Dada), Friday, 9 December 2005 14:16 (twenty years ago)

wow, long time no see. not that you know me.

sean gramophone (Sean M), Friday, 9 December 2005 14:16 (twenty years ago)

Hi Sean I have seen you!

(I did post a thread last weekend but it disappeared bcz it was prob quite obscure and it was a weekend.)

Dada I'm not too bad.

There isn't much this month is there?

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Friday, 9 December 2005 14:25 (twenty years ago)

Newcastle - Human League next week, Bauhaus Jan. Probably other stuff, I shd pick up a local listings mag. There seems to be a bit more going on up here recently.

Pashmina (Pashmina), Friday, 9 December 2005 14:28 (twenty years ago)

I'm seeing Pelican on Monday in Bristol.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Friday, 9 December 2005 14:28 (twenty years ago)

Julz maybe some South London skronk next week? I think I'm free at present. Did you clock what was on? I didn't. Also I want to bore you about the return of the one drop to reggae.

Tim (Tim), Friday, 9 December 2005 14:39 (twenty years ago)

No North London skronk to be found :(

We Buy a Hammer For Dadaismus (Dada), Friday, 9 December 2005 14:41 (twenty years ago)

That would probably be a horrible sort of skronk anyway.

I might go and see King Creosote at the Scala in January. I like him.

Tim (Tim), Friday, 9 December 2005 14:46 (twenty years ago)

oh cool - you said you might have not been available so I ws only gonna txt you in january but I'll check w/you next week.

And i've no idea what's on xcept its billed as a tribute to Bob Cobbing - a sound poet who died last year and used to do some improv -so it should fun.

AND I'm quite bored most days Tim, so a bit of the boring stuff won't hurt :-) xxp

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Friday, 9 December 2005 14:48 (twenty years ago)

I prefer North London skronk - South London skronk is too silly

We Buy a Hammer For Dadaismus (Dada), Friday, 9 December 2005 14:50 (twenty years ago)

It was last night that I was unavailable. I was so unavailable I missed One Tree Hill.

Silly skronk is so obviously the best sort. Serious skronk is too serious. Sound-Poet-commemorating silly skronk will plainly rule.

Tim (Tim), Friday, 9 December 2005 14:53 (twenty years ago)

I don't mind silly skronk when it's actually funny, I hate silly skronk when it thinks it's funny and it isn't

We Buy a Hammer For Dadaismus (Dada), Friday, 9 December 2005 14:54 (twenty years ago)

But then it's metafunny!

Tim (Tim), Friday, 9 December 2005 14:57 (twenty years ago)

Well I never metaman yet who laughed at a metajoke. Anyway, I think we've established that silly or serious, funny or not, there ain't enough skronkin' goin' on this month

We Buy a Hammer For Dadaismus (Dada), Friday, 9 December 2005 15:00 (twenty years ago)

You want to get yourself down to Nunhead, mate.

Tim (Tim), Friday, 9 December 2005 15:02 (twenty years ago)

What with all those silly skronkin' Zappafans?

We Buy a Hammer For Dadaismus (Dada), Friday, 9 December 2005 15:04 (twenty years ago)

Yes. All of them. In one place. You'll love it.

Tim (Tim), Friday, 9 December 2005 15:06 (twenty years ago)

I'll warn you now, if anyone puts on a gasmask, I'm leaving

We Buy a Hammer For Dadaismus (Dada), Friday, 9 December 2005 15:07 (twenty years ago)

There's Boat Ting at the Yacht Club on the Embankment - saw a nice set from Harry Beckett there this month, next month ppl like Steve Beresford will be doing their little toy freaky improv stuff - and compere Sybil's freeform jazzdancing is truly a sight to behold!

I don't know abt this silly Sarf London skronk - i guess i wld put myself (emotionally if not geographically) on the serious East London post-Bailey skronk wing (which is kind of funny, in a mordant deathly gloom sorta way

Ward Fowler (Ward Fowler), Friday, 9 December 2005 15:18 (twenty years ago)

Ward Fowler (Ward Fowler), Friday, 9 December 2005 15:18 (twenty years ago)

sorry

Ward Fowler (Ward Fowler), Friday, 9 December 2005 15:21 (twenty years ago)

I haven't been to the lil' boat for ages now.

fyi, sarf Landan shronk has some pretty SERIOUS bits.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Friday, 9 December 2005 15:25 (twenty years ago)

Oh I'm only generalising for comic effect Julio. But many a true word spoken in jest etc etc etc

We Buy a Hammer For Dadaismus (Dada), Friday, 9 December 2005 15:26 (twenty years ago)

Also I, as (at least) all three of you know, don't know what I'm on about.

Tim (Tim), Friday, 9 December 2005 15:30 (twenty years ago)

The way you casually slipped Nunhead into the conversation was a masterstroke

We Buy a Hammer For Dadaismus (Dada), Friday, 9 December 2005 15:33 (twenty years ago)

I don't know much about skronk but I do know my Nunhead.

Tim (Tim), Friday, 9 December 2005 15:34 (twenty years ago)

is there a link or something for the sarf london skronk?

Ward Fowler (Ward Fowler), Friday, 9 December 2005 15:41 (twenty years ago)

I don't know what's going on in London, but over here in NYC, Purple Trap (Keiji Haino - guitar; Bill Laswell - bass; Rashied Ali - drums) is playing their first-ever live gig on Thursday 12/15.

pdf (Phil Freeman), Friday, 9 December 2005 15:43 (twenty years ago)

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Friday, 9 December 2005 15:44 (twenty years ago)

I want to go see Mark Dresser-Roswell Rudd Duo at Tonic, I think it's the 28th of Dec.

mcd (mcd), Friday, 9 December 2005 15:47 (twenty years ago)

I wonder if Stool Man is silly skronk? The name may be taken as not entirely serious, if you like, or I do. Which I think I do.

Tim (Tim), Friday, 9 December 2005 15:58 (twenty years ago)

(oh ward that gig is on thur 15th - join us! and everyone else!)

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Saturday, 10 December 2005 11:34 (twenty years ago)

Just to bring this thread to some sort of conclusion.

One of the most chaotic gigs I've been to. But "chaotic" in the very best way - thinking about it today just brings a big grin on my face.

(And don't mess with that barmaid.)

(see you all in jan :-))

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Friday, 16 December 2005 14:24 (twenty years ago)

yes! it really was like a lost episode of Phoenix Nights where they stage an improv evening

Ward Fowler (Ward Fowler), Friday, 16 December 2005 16:18 (twenty years ago)

This sounds like it might be good if you like that sort of thing...
http://www.phlo.net/andycoules/theorchestrapit/gig.html
