recommend some psych bands my dad probably liked if he was into spirit, please?

i am trying to piece together a drunken conversation i had with my dad over thanksgiving, about the psych bands he liked in the 60's. the only one i had heard of was spirit and there was a lot of scotch involved so...i'm not remembering the names. besides the 12 dreams of dr. sardonicus, what else should i get him for christmas?

i think i remember him talking about the "boston psych scene" a bit...
