Mexican Misadventure

OK folks, suppose Krang and the Shredder are finally gonna off the Ninja Turtles unless you can come up with a CD-R of songs having a theme of Mexican Misadventure, songs like:

Mexicali Blues - Grateful Dead
Carmelita - Warren Zevon
Come a Little Bit Closer - Jay and the Americans
El Paso - Marty Robbins
Border Affair/Spanish is a loving tongue - I forget who
and [rolls eyes] I guess we have to include: Margaritaville - J. Buff
And as a Christian Scientist, my faith forbids me from using the search function -- you give me shit for starting a redundant thread, you get Jesus on your case hardcore.

By the way, I've been posting under various names and lurking for two years, but I've moved away from all my real-life friends, so be nice to me because you're all I've got. Oh god, it's a good thing I'm drunk.

OK! Thanks, will get to downloading these things stat. How nice that people are responding -- I feel like I exist! BTW, I know that some folks, Alex in SF for instance, might say that the genre is racist and all that, but really, what the hell do I care?

I'd go with the Celtic Frost version of "Mexican Radio". Hell, put both versions on there.

Butthole Surfers - "Mexican Caravan"

Rockist_Scientist (RSLaRue), Saturday, 10 December 2005 11:57 (twenty years ago)

Tindersticks - "Let's Pretend"

It doesn't mention Mexico in the lyric, but the Mariachi-sounding climax is swoony, doomy wonderousness.

Amity Wong (noodle vague), Saturday, 10 December 2005 12:29 (twenty years ago)

For goodness sake:

"Down in Mexicali
There's a crazy little place that I know
Where the drinks are hotter than the chili sauce
And the boss is a cat named Joe

He wears a red bandana, plays a blues piana
In a honky-tonk, down in Mexico
He wears a purple sash, and a black moustache
In a honky-tonk, down in Mexico

Well, the first time that I saw him
He was sittin' on a piano stool
I said 'Tell me dad, when does the fun begin?'
He just winked his eye and said 'Man, be cool.'

He wears a red bandana, plays a blues pianna
In a honky-tonk, down in Mexico
He wears a purple sash, and a black moustache
In a honky-tonk, down in Mexico

All of a sudden in walks this chick
Joe starts playing on a Latin kick
Around her waist she wore three fishnets
She started dancin' with the castanets
I didn't know just what to expect
She threw her arms around my neck
We started dancin' all around the floor
AND THEN SHE DID A DANCE I NEVER SAW BEFORE.

So if you're south of the border
I mean down in Mexico
And you wanna get straight,
Man, don't hesitate
Just look up a cat named Joe.

He wears a red bandana, plays a blues pianna
In a honky-tonk, down in Mexico
He wears a purple sash, and a black moustache
In a honky-tonk, down in Mexico

Yeah, como est usted senorita
Come with me to the border, south of the border, that is
In Mexico, yeah in Mexico
You can get your kicks in Mexico
Come with me baby, come with me, come with me, crazy, yeah
