I don't own one.
I have a fifty thousand dollar recording studio in my home consisting of a real grand piano. but I don't have a DVD player and don't really if I have one. I also don't have a microwave.'
I don't care about that.
\\
how many people here are always trying to get the newest things in technology?

talk, Sunday, 11 December 2005 22:38 (twenty years ago)

I meant to say, I don't really care if I have a microwave oven.
How many people here think about technology all the time?

mariesa sabriel, Sunday, 11 December 2005 22:39 (twenty years ago)

I don't really see a point to having a DVD player if you have a computer. Even more so, I really don't get those portable DVD players that look like laptops and cost $400 but all they play is DVDs. What's the point?

Jena (JenaP), Sunday, 11 December 2005 22:50 (twenty years ago)

people seemed in shock when I said I don't own a Microwave.
But they didn't have a real stereo. I would rather have a decent stereo. I have a good stereo..but I want an old turn table to get vintage records and play them.
I have digital stereo.
My parents owned a great vinyl record player.

I don't own a Television for many years..and I don't own a DVD player.

I do own a great studio with some new high tech stuff.

I also don't own a scanner and my printer needs fixing.

but I don't care about it...
I try to write things out by hand..

How many people write handwritten letters to people?

mariesa sabriel, Sunday, 11 December 2005 22:57 (twenty years ago)

I don't have a DVD player. Or a DVD drive. I don't own a single DVD either. My television is extremely tiny, and my stereo is very old, so it's not that much of a surprise.

edward o (edwardo), Sunday, 11 December 2005 23:05 (twenty years ago)

I had a tiny T.V set and sold the big one ...
I feel ..I get alot more accomplished with my daily life now..I did enjoy some shows on t.v...but I would rather not have it as a distraction...the computer is enough of a distraction and more interesting..
very old stereos can be good..
mine is about 7 years old. In the technological world. ..7 years is ancient..LOL...it is odd.

mariesa sabriel, Sunday, 11 December 2005 23:11 (twenty years ago)

I have to think of technology all of the time. I don't have a choice.
After being beaten and shot by criminals, I was left for dead.

Luckily, my partner found me in time and the paramedics were able to put me on life support until they could transform me into a fully functioning cyborg (half man / half machine). What's great is that I was able to go back to being a police officer and go after the people who turned me into this monstrosity.

One complaint though:
When recreating my sense of vision and wiring me for a friend/enemy status checker as well as a full dictionary of penal codes, they forgot to give me a standard video input. It would have been a perfect opportunity to expand my ability to actually ENJOY myself. It's like the scientists didn't care about me having a good time; they just wanted me to fight crime with heightened abilities and senses. Whatever. Thanks for nothing...they have no idea how sweet it would've been to watch the CAN dvd with direct audio and video ins.

robocop, Sunday, 11 December 2005 23:13 (twenty years ago)

I have some DVD documentary/video collection things, but no DVD player right now (till I replace my laptop).

Do I find the rush to consume as much entertainment as humanly possible generally a little disturbing? Yes, I probably do. I find it staggering how MUCH home entertainment some people possess. But that's a whole other discussion.

I guess if you can't go out and be entertained and you are in a wheelchair..it is good...
but I prefer live performances...
or a prefer ...audio recordings in vinyl or cd format.
sometimes I don't like to see anyone playing..I just like to hear the music and image things in my head. I don't really need to see a person playing the music ...

I hope you are feeling better now

Do you think the people buy all this stuff because they really want to be entertained..or because it has become a status symbol..
like when people are in complete shock that I don't have microwave..like they thought their is something wrong with this.

how about hand writing...?? don't you prefer hand written personal letters from people?

I want to have hand written lyrics for my music when I complete the cds..and I want to have hand drawn artwork on the cover if I can afford the covers..

mariesa sabriel, Sunday, 11 December 2005 23:21 (twenty years ago)

If you had the choice between handwritten letters and a dried flower in the envelop ( from a lover) or some new technological toy, which would you prefer?

mariesa sabriel, Sunday, 11 December 2005 23:23 (twenty years ago)

i have one, but i don't have one. am i confused?

whatever (boglogger), Sunday, 11 December 2005 23:44 (twenty years ago)

Mitya (mitya), Sunday, 11 December 2005 23:49 (twenty years ago)

Have some cool music, but because the people here are only into consumerism, and commerialism...I am not sharing my new domain name.
My name is not Mariesa SAbriel.
Right now, I am removing my website. there is no reason to keep a site up that I am not going to be using.
the people here allowed people to publically humiliate me because I am unsigned independent artist.

So goodbye everyone.

mariesa sabriel, Monday, 12 December 2005 00:32 (twenty years ago)

Promises, promises.

You be back, just like a floater that refuses to be flushed.

did you know there is no such person as Mariesa Sabriel..and the only people with talent in the world are people on labels.
Mariesa was just a nut, joke and crazy person.
The music world is great. go listen to signed people.

http://www.mariesasabriel.com

there is no such artist.
If Mariesa was talented ..she would be signed.

Mar, I'm totally with you on not owning a Microwave -- I do own one because the gf wants it, but I hate the thing. It can't do anything right.

Abbadavid Berman (Hurting), Monday, 12 December 2005 15:08 (twenty years ago)

i put my dvd player in the mico-wave

Mark (MarkR), Monday, 12 December 2005 15:13 (twenty years ago)

how did it taste?

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Monday, 12 December 2005 15:28 (twenty years ago)

DVD players cost like 20 bucks. They connect to your TV and make movies look really beautiful. If you like movies, they're good to have.

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Monday, 12 December 2005 17:00 (twenty years ago)

I just bought one this weekend. I really have not felt the need to get one but since there is so much good music out on dvd, i broke down and bought one.
I really dont care that movie's are clearer on dvd. My vcr tapes are fine.

meister, Monday, 12 December 2005 18:21 (twenty years ago)

If you really like movies...once you start watching them on DVD, you cannot go back to VHS. It's a huge difference.

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Monday, 12 December 2005 18:25 (twenty years ago)

I have a DVD player and a decent TV, which suits me better than rocking DVD's on my laptop. Then again, I live with my gf, so if I lived alone I might ditch the TV and such to get some more audio gear. I have a mixed collection of gear; a couple samplers, a synth, some rack gates and compressorts, etc.; and a nice set of powered monitors to listen through. My laptop's too slow to use for anything more than some MIDI and stereo recording, however.

My stereo is, well... so-so. I mean, it's decent, but I can't be bothered to invest thousands in "audiophile" gear. That's just crap. I mean, I'm listening to stuff in my living room, with highly questionable acoustics (not to mention speaker placement, due to the layout of the place). I just look forward to the day when I can set up some sort of decent surround speakers for watching movies.

Fuck a microwave -- I prefer to cook on a real stove, even when just heating up leftovers of something I cooked earlier in the week.

Josh Witkowski (braineater), Monday, 12 December 2005 19:14 (twenty years ago)

i only have a box of matches and a paper towel. that is all.

kyle (akmonday), Monday, 12 December 2005 19:47 (twenty years ago)

i own a 13" tv/vcr combo that i bought freshman year of college. i like vhs (cheap!) and i don't see the need for dvd quality picture on a 13" screen.

i now live with a roommate who owns a dvd player. that is the only method of movie-watching in the living room so i've bought a few dvds. i guess when i move elsewhere i'll have to give in and buy a dvd player.

Nathalie, I think that was directed at Robocop.

bobby.lasers (bobby.lasers), Tuesday, 13 December 2005 13:28 (twenty years ago)

I have no DVD player (and no DVDs, I do not really know how to play them), no TV, no video machine (and never figured out how to work those) and no iPod. My computer doesn't have iTunes, any method to connect it to a digital camera (not that I have one of those either), any capacity to hold more than about 10 mp3s at any one time, or indeed Microsoft Word.

The Lex (The Lex), Tuesday, 13 December 2005 13:39 (twenty years ago)

I have no DVD player, and a VCR that within the last six months has decided that the only tape it will play is Ladyhawk.

js (honestengine), Tuesday, 13 December 2005 13:48 (twenty years ago)

Ironicaly, on the day this was posted I hooked up my first ever DVD player for the first time.
