The third track is awesome and builds up into something noisy and awesome. They supposedly have a full-length LP coming out in January or February.

I think their straight-up acid/German techno circa 94 kinda thing is a lot better, but I realise I'm probably in a minority thinking this

isn't this new Acid Casuals record that fabled electronica album that they did around the time of Guerilla/Mwng?

i think so. nice stuff

The B-sides are fine but the A-side is great! It would've fit right in on "Guerilla" .

It's called Omni and it's out in January on Placid Casual (placidcasual.com) It has bits of the 'lost' rumoured techno SFA album and other bits from previous SFA recording sessions. I prefer it to the earlier Acid Casuals stuff. It's quite good.

I actually think these three tracks show an amazing amount of promise. If Omni is as strong as "If I'm a Selt You're a Sunt,"I wouldn't be surprised by a minor wave of success for what has been this guy's very minor side project. It's good to see he's finally gotten something together.

Don't download this expecting anything remotely techno, though.

Hmm, the two tracks after the single are pretty electronic.

The number of Super Furry side projects is growing as we speak. After Gruff himself kicked off a solo career earlier this year in fine style with Yr Atal Genhedlaeth , now keyboards/electronics man Cian Ciaran is set to follow suit this month on the SFA owned Placid Casual label. "Its really beautiful," says Gruff. "There's one doo-wop song. And there's a couple of songs with singing, just abstract singing with no lyrics built on loops basically. Cian does a lot of minimal techno, but he keeps that stuff for twelve inches. This is more orchestral. There's some piano driven struff, some very electronic songs and generally just beautiful instrumental music.

"Now Daf has started a rock band called The Peth," continues Gruff, "It means 'The Thing' in welsh. They're going to be a bilingual monster rock band. It's kind of anthemic stuff. He's an ELO fan so its like ELO and Badfinger. He's got all his drug buddies on board, so it'll be very hedonistic. Like a satanic Abba."
