hey my band's CD is getting towards completion and I need to start thinking about mastering....

was wondering who some of ILX musicians have mastered with, how happy you were with it, and how much it cost, relatively...

Just in case, short answer: don't get "The Worm" (the current trend of compressing the shit out of a record so that the waveform looks like a worm, as opposed to a fish skeleton). Get good mastering or none (you can do bad mastering yourself: get rid of inaudible frequencies, compress with a soft limiter, normalize and you're done). If you're prepared to spend about a grand, Allan Tucker at Foothill Digital is a genius.
